We've been big fans of Leftside Wobble's 'Acid Soul' series, so we are delighted to have him put together a mix for us. Here are some words from him regarding his mix for us:

"Leftside Classics is a retrospective featuring some of the tracks that have meant the most to me over the last five years or so. These are the tracks that somehow always find a way back into my sets, tracks that rise above the transient and tracks that defy limiting genre pigeonholes. My sets have always been about joining the dots, celebrating the eclectic and supporting those tracks that exist in the rich hinterland between dub, funk, disco and house. Hopefully this retrospective captures that overriding ethos.

I've included a small selection of unreleased LW bits and a few exclusive versions of well known staples to keep things pushing forward too.

Clandestino 026 - Leftside Wobble

Patti Jo to my knowledge only made two tracks but oh what tracks they were. Both were written and produced by Curtis Mayfield and have been staples in my sets for many years. 'Make Me Believe In You' is the better known of the two (the Tom Moulton mix is one of his finest) but Ain't No Love Lost, released the year before in 1972 is just as strong and if anything has even better arrangements. Can't believe it's taken me this long to give it a LW re-spin! As ever this may see the light of day over the summer as a limited release but has mainly been put together for my forthcoming sets.

Ain't No Love Lost (Leftside Wobble Edit) - Now Available @ Juno Download

Re-grooved version of a Cerrone classic that builds, twists & undulates over the course of it's near nine minute journey. In many ways this was one of the first disco tracks that feels like a  prototype for House music but using real musicians rather than machines. A simple infectious groove that gets under your skin and builds towards a stunning sax laden crescendo towards the close. We welcome the legendary Norman Jay MBE for the second hour, who's reputation as a DJ spans decades and was part of the original roster of DJ's alongside Coldcut on the pirate Kiss FM, as well as BBC London. He is also known for his Good Times Sound System at Notting Hill Carnival and this mix celebrates the release of his compilation on Strut commemorating 30 years. Tracks include Ghetto Disco by Ted Taylor,  boogie rarity Dreamin by Zalmac, the Henrik Schwarz remix for The Detroit Experiment and soul legend Curtis Mayfield, before winding down with Brazilian grooves from Attic Tree and skanking reggae from Jacob Miller

Marley Root Down -320K

Over the last couple of years a number of producers have emerged that have captured the spirit of that original Chicago House sound from back in the day; a time when house music wore it's disco influences firmly on it's sleeve. Producers such as Neville Watson, Kink, Hard Ton, Snuff Crew &amp; Shiny Objekts (to name a few) manage to create music that's deep and raw yet still oozes funk and soul.

The 'Acid Soul' series of mixes celebrate this sound and this latest instalment features a bunch of stuff I've been playing in my peak time sets in recent months (including the Carnival after party a few weeks back). It wouldn't be a Leftside Wobble set though without a smattering of edits too, and this features some killer versions of Marvin Gaye and Steve Winwood classics as well as my own recent spin on 'Could Heaven Ever Be Like This'.
