Next up in the in our ever evolving podcast series we’re keeping things really interesting for y’all! Ladies and gentleman we introduce to you…DJ CHIDA!

Japanese native Shinsuke Chida has consistently pushed the electronic boundaries when it comes to throwing down a serious party selection. He has become one of the go to warm up DJ’s in his native Japan, bringing the biggest players in the underground house music game to his legendary parties in his home city of Tokyo. The man is an educator and an innovator to put it simply. His label, Ene Records, has become synonymous with releasing beautifully crafted electronic gems from the likes of fellow Japanese dudes Sly Mongoose, Cos/Mes and The Backwoods AKA DJ Kent. Each release features some unreal remixes as well from some of Chida’s favourites including Prins Thomas and Eddie C amongst others. Basically, this guy knows his shit and never compromises on the sheer quality of each release.

After catching a rare set outside of Japan from this guy on our Balearic travels through Croatia we had to share this absolute gem with the masses!

Jun Kamoda is an Kyoto-based DJ and producer who has long been fervently contributing to Japan’s electronic music scene. Starting as a member of Hip Hop trio Baleine 3000 and under the Illreme moniker 15 years ago, he made his true debuts with ‘The Clay’ EP in 2016. Being quickly supported by Mall Grab - who played his track ‘Physical Graffiti’ in his Boiler Room the same year and later invited him to release a track on his imprint Steel City Dance Discs - helped him build a reputation overseas. Actually, Jun’s musical style is indefinable as he’s always drifting between house and electro stressing broken and unpredictable drums and breaks you would have never imagined. Speaking of which, his recent track 'Escape the Night' has been featured on Resident Advisor’s list of July’s Best Music last year. If his effervescent sounds fittingly found home on quality labels like Mister Saturday Night, Dirt Crew Recordings or Black Acre, he didn’t lose his ambition to found his own one Jun Records that has already welcomed new talented artists such as Luksek and XTAL. To top things off, the man is also a cartoon illustrator for Japanese independent magazine Usca.

Once again, Jun Kamoda sits where you don’t expect him as the mix surprisingly oscillates between house, disco, and acid, bringing tracks from Roman Flügel, Daphni, or dj poolboi into focus for the enjoyment of all ages.

We've been big fans of Leftside Wobble's 'Acid Soul' series, so we are delighted to have him put together a mix for us. Here are some words from him regarding his mix for us:

"Leftside Classics is a retrospective featuring some of the tracks that have meant the most to me over the last five years or so. These are the tracks that somehow always find a way back into my sets, tracks that rise above the transient and tracks that defy limiting genre pigeonholes. My sets have always been about joining the dots, celebrating the eclectic and supporting those tracks that exist in the rich hinterland between dub, funk, disco and house. Hopefully this retrospective captures that overriding ethos.

I've included a small selection of unreleased LW bits and a few exclusive versions of well known staples to keep things pushing forward too.

This is probably my favourite of the Acid Soul series so far. Featuring a selection of deep, dirty groovers from recent months, with a smattering of classics for good measure too. Thanks must go out to the fine folks of the DJ History forum for prompting me to dig out Maurice Fulton's mix of Alice Smith - forgot just how good that record is.

It is time for a fun track that makes you dance. “Ricochet” is a cartoonish and groovy track that will keep you dancing for almost 6 minutes. It comes to a break where the audience can be introspective for a minute, right before getting slapped in the face by the old and trusted combo of kick and bass we all know and love.

An ethereal voice recalls the decline of this part of Italy where I come from. The commodification and race to the bottom of everything (especially art and music) has led to a society where good and bad are confused, where we can no longer recognize beauty. Inevitable, unstoppable decline, I think there's nothing we can do about it, but this song was born that way.
