Dutch DJ and producer Olivier Boogie has been doing his thing in Amsterdam, largely without credit, for the best part of a decade. He's previously released both original productions and re-edits, with two contributions to a split Lumberjacks In Hell release back in 2012 standing out. Here he returns - at long last - with an edit EP of his own for Whiskey Disco. There's naturally much to admire, from the soaring strings, undulating bass and disco-funk hustle of "Got To Have Loving" and jaunty Rodriguez re-rub "Can't Get Away" being particularly potent. He also delivers a dash of head-nodding boogie ("You Know Who"), and turns a little-known funk jam into a shuffling house hustler ("Lost In The Crowd").

What more can you say?
I've always been a fan since I could walk. I'm no stranger to doing JB edits, especially my re-edit of "I'm Satisfied" (on Underdog Edits Vol. 5), which is on a many dj's playlist!
This joint, from the underrated album "Look At Those Cakes", is a true Chicago classic, in every sense of the word.
I remember countless Music Box nights when Ron Hardy would work the crossover knobs to this cut! You had to be there....
As with most JB cuts, it was never club or dj friendly.
This re-edit pays the respect to The Godfather and maintains its raw and funky groove with slight extensions and some additional percussion in the right places.

Madrid's Javi Frias has been an avid music collector and DJ since the 90's with a serious passion for soul, funk, disco, boogie and house. The last few years have seen him steadily rise up through the ranks of the disco community to become an artist who is regularly in the download charts and sees serous big name DJ support. Javi is also behind the excellent Nightshift Records.

His latest EP for the label features four well crafted edits all with some serious dancefloor clout from deep groovers to vocal bliss. Following early outings on Electric Friends and Spa In Disco, fast-rising producer JMMSTR (no relation to Freerange boss Jimpster) makes a first appearance on Slightly Transformed. There are two tracks to set the pulse racing. Opener "New York" is a confirmed mid-tempo treat: a woozy, 112 BPM shuffler that layers flash-fried guitars and piano-laden snippets from a swirling, string-laden disco classic atop thickset bass and bongo-heavy nu-disco beats. Virtual B-side "You Took" employs bouncier and crispier beats, with the producer utilizing filter effects to tease in elements of a female-fronted disco-funk number. The vocal breakdown is life affirming, but it's the trippy treatment of the sample source's hard-wired guitars that catches the ear.

Following on from their stand-out collaboration 'Get It On' on @soulclaprecs from a couple of years ago which was many a DJ's secret weapon two of our favourite artists Michael The Lion (@djaptone) and @amydouglassings combine yet again for a full EP of choice cuts from the heartfelt to downright dance-floor focussed gems. They have also enlisted the help of remix legend @john-morales to spruce up two of the tracks from the EP Find A Way and Drink You Up to help bring even more dance-floor joy.
