This song represents the frustration and angst felt by people all around the world who have had their freedom taken away from them by the restrictions imposed by the governments in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the time of posting this track, Melbournians have been in sporadic lockdowns for 231 days. During this time we have only been allowed to leave the house to go to the grocery store, exercise or seek medical attention. 

It has been 18 months since the last psytrance festival in Victoria. 18 months since we have been allowed to feel the freedom of expression and connection of an outdoor dancefloor. All of this time of isolation has driven many of us to fall into the darkness, overwhelmed by  demons that are no longer kept at bay by the light of our beautiful community. 

All is not in vain however because there is much to be learnt from the dark, after all, your shadow is always there. Learning to understand the darkness allows us to control the demons and appreciate the light all the more when you get to experience it.

So we release the forbidden sounds, which have been locked away, kept secret in the fear that they may scare people, but now we have learnt that the only way to heal is to bring the darkness to light.

Ark-E-Tech and Käse Kochen find a bond in exploring the far reaches of music production, coming together for their first collaboration EP. Merging their creativity they form a unique style of funkadelic prog-tech in FAUNA. Driven by playful energetic basslines and laden with horns, guitar, even a bit of harmonica, the original tracks are twisted into an earthy and elated energy. Inspiration for FAUNA derives from dusty dance floors and the artists’ native habitats of lush forests surrounding Byron Bay and the wildlands of Tasmania. FAUNA explores the wonderfully weird world of Australian native animals - wombats, frill neck lizards and electronic music producers.

The remixes further the strong represent of Australian techno that Bassic Records aims to guide. The robust basslines of Like Liquid and Rainbird thump through the bush while their cheeky structure and sampling forges their lively energy. Gabriel Moraes puts forth a deep emotive interpretation, skilfully progressing as a listener is left to feel calmly consumed by the night. Docosc is the final piece of the release, an open platter of psychedelic experimentalism, the thrill neck scampering through sand and sound.

Legacy is a project was founded in Far North Queensland, Australia. From the early days of performing locally in the thriving culture he lived in, he was immersed in music and around artists which influenced the sound he is now renowned for. Since 2004, he took his passion from DJ’ing and started producing 

Rhythm and groove are major fundamentals of the ‘Legacy’ project, founded from his passion for latin percussion and kit drumming throughout his early schooling years. He has released 2 full length albums and 2 Ep’s with No Qualms Records, which he Co-Founded with Jekyll. His latest release “Merchants of Emotion” was released in November 2019 with “Weapon Records”. 

In 2010, Jekyll and Legacy founded No Qualms Records. Since then, they have had the opportunity to host and work with some of the most unique artists in the country, specialising in a “Bush Progressive” sound. 

Legacy has performed at many large festivals around the globe, including Freq’s of Nature, Universo Paralello, Eclipse FNQ, Rainbow Serpent & Earth Frequency. You can find his music on the No Qualms & Weapon Records bandcamp/Spotify, but to get a full experience of the sound, attend a live show.
