Rising Sun Systems - Paradoxa Fermi

Legowelt is the alias of Dutch producer and electronic musician Danny Wolfers. Known for his lo-fi, analog-heavy sound, Legowelt has been a prominent figure in the underground electronic music scene since the late 1990s. His music blends elements of house, techno, electro, and ambient, often characterized by dreamy melodies and gritty textures.

Hailing from The Hague, Netherlands, Legowelt gained recognition with early releases on Bunker Records and Clone. Over the years, he has released dozens of albums and EPs under various aliases, building a cult following worldwide. Beyond music, he is also known for his visual art, software synthesizer patches, and contributions to synth culture.

Legowelt remains an influential and prolific artist, celebrated for his DIY ethos and dedication to hardware-based music production.

for this week’s 909 podcast we welcome naarm/melbourne based dj & producer, al dente who serves up a delicious mix curated for home listening sessions. showcasing a slower, softer side to his collection, al dente was inspired to curate this mix by the setting that he enjoys listening to them the most in - cooking. still nodding to his signature spacey, chuggy and bubbly soundscapes, the mix comes with a minimal, techy edge. 

the 2024 release of al dente’s ‘the second cousin’ on animalia has become a firm favourite of mine - at least one track from the ep is always playlisted for sets. it’s a shining explain of what has drawn me to al dente’s sound over the past year, a contemporary take on a club-roller that’s super deep and futuristic whilst drawing from influences of early 2000s minimal. a dreamy combo! alongside that animalia release, al dente has released on the likes of pure space, beam, dmo, the space between us, and neurocrank - the latter being a platform & collective that al dente is a part of.

The heat waves have subsided to a degree, breezes sweep the green trees throughout Brooklyn. After a break, I’m happy to be out walking again, street by street, watching life unfold in the warm New York summer. On the horizon though is my favorite time of the year, Fall will make itself known and plenty of good tidings with it.

Sundays are for... [Aug/25]

Reaching our 100th edition feels special, and we couldn’t be more honored to celebrate it with Anthony Child. Many know him as Surgeon or as part of the British Murder Boys alongside Regis whose work has left a lasting mark on techno. Yet there’s another side to his work - one that steps away from the club and into more spacious terrain. You can hear it in his electronic recordings from the Maui project in 2015, in his collaborations with Daniel Bean as The Transcendence Orchestra, or through OLD Technology, the label they run together as a playground for questioning reality.

For Unrush, Anthony offers a mix that only he could create. A journey that wanders through krautrock, psychedelic twists, ambient spaces and moments of lighthearted play. It has the same curious energy that makes his monthly Noods mixes so inspiring, and yet it feels made to be taken in slowly, with time and openness.

We’re grateful to share this milestone with someone who has shaped so much of the music we love, and who reminds us that listening can be both grounding and transporting. Press play and enjoy it - on a walk, with friends, or in your own quiet time...

The Black Dog have been gathering their thoughts, passions and anger, reflecting it into their music, sometimes as part of a larger picture or concept, sometimes just focusing on one subject.

"Tranklements is such a great Sheffield word, it means a collection of objects, often precious to the owner. Everyone has a collection of Tranklements somewhere! These are ours.

Tranklements is a body of work created as 16 unique and individual tracks. Each one is its own little object, something we've created to externalise, explain and express the world we find ourselves in. It encompasses many thoughts, emotions and desires from the last eighteen months. There is an individual story and internal message behind each. They've all been discussed and fought for. However, we really don’t want to explain them, we don't expect those personal rationals to translate to others. We’d rather you gazed upon the objects yourself and come to your own conclusions. Nobody likes to be told what to think.

In many ways our work with the eSC (http://www.electronicsupperclub.tv) project has helped us to reconnect with many things and each other. The creative talent and desires of the younger generation have never gone away. The real underground is still as vibrant as ever, not lost to false values, over-sized egos and ladder climbing brands. We've always respected that energy and individuality that exists beyond the bland compliant mainstream.

The truth is we've always felt like the awkward outsiders."
