After his outing in the beginning of 2018, Amrint Keen (an alias of Lake People reserved for his rawer, broken and more experimental productions) is following up on Uncanny Valley with a new EP. And boy, nobody else does dance tracks so unpretentious, but still demanding. Oscillating between house and electro rhythms, the tracks once again show his midas touch of combining subtlety and fun on the dance floor.

A track like TRANSIENT LOSS OF RESPONSE explores the corners of urban landscapes and finds melancholy, but also a pumping urgency for the club. MAYBE IT WON'T BE comes with a pretty funny but throughout stable track architecture consisting of many different toy blocks disguised as sounds. DOOZY OF A DAY is indeed a doozy of a track that maybe just fell in love considering the infatuated synths. And also CREPUSCULAR can't hide its romantic qualities after an abrupt start with impetuous drumming.

As with the first Amrint Keen record, the artwork comes from Murat Önen, a painter born in Istanbul and now a graduate at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new single and video from HARTBRAND. The Berlin-based modular performer and industrial techno craftsman spearheads the newly launched Safeword Records imprint with a dark and driving release entitled Brunst.  Today we share the video for the title track and it’s a cinematic work of raw, unsettling imagery and motion. “Brunst” encapsulates the music’s socio-political undertones with grainy images and harsh noises creating a sense of foreboding and yet it’s extremely rewarding to watch and get sucked in to its world.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Gesaffelstein, Daniel Avery and Black Asteroid, HARTBRAND fuels his production by creating soundscapes that reflect the feeling of a divided society and uniformed workers in the digital age of capitalism. Now, Hartbrand brings his energy-heavy and dark beats to Safeword Records with four immensely emotive and challenging music videos, resonating with the label's intent to communicate thought-provoking messages through sound. From the full frontal synth stabs of “Brunst” to the thunder-like sub-frequencies of “Utopia”, this is four tracks of powerful, engulfing techno and a strong way to launch the new impring.

Lemon Test are a Berlin-based crew of like-minded music heads Liebherr, Guy Nicki and JennaJ. Renowned for their extensive mix collection from the very forefront of the electronic game, their label continues to curate some of the most exciting newcomers and innovators for special EPs. Special EPs like this…

Their sixth edition, and it could be Lemon Test’s sharpest flavour to date. ‘Lonely Water’ comes courtesy of Eira Haul. You won’t recognise the name, this is his debut, but you may well have raved with him at his legendary Berlin party Lustgarten… For years a loved and well-trusted fixture on the Berlin scene — with a vibe of free-form energy.

The same can be said for this EP; a woozy brew of breakbeats and tempos, ‘Lonely Water’ features three originals from the Berlin artist and taps into that bottomless melting pot of hardcore, jungle, dub and breaks that almost all rave is founded on. The title track takes the lead with rolling kicks and a chopped up vocal before switching up with a savage acid line at the peak. It’s backed by ‘Survivor’. Slightly more informed by classic electro, the tempo is a touch faster but the mood is a whole tonne darker. Finally, we hit ‘Lorica’. Full strength jungle business, with strong nods to Moving Shadow or Krome & Time in the rampant breaks and big emotional pads.

The remixes are just as weighty. Taking things back to the techno context that Lemon Test likes to subvert. Friend of the label Ryan James Ford whips up a half-time, rolling juggernaut while Liebherr goes to town on the breakbeats for a soulful, deep dream finale. Stunning stuff in all directions... Lemon Test brings the goods once again.

Premiere: Eira Haul - Lonely Water

Veronica Maximova is a performing artist, pianist and electronic music producer, born in Moscow and raised in Belgium. She speaks five languages, won several poetry contests and knows how to operate a drone. Music is her sixth language and the one she feels most comfortable expressing herself with.. 
At the age of four, she started exploring her parents’ piano in Moscow and remembers playing Trap Doors with her dad on a Commodore 64 and after moving to Belgium, followed her passion by attending music school. 
Moving to Berlin in 2014 allowed her to develop her music for the first time and soon after she started to work on independent releases. 
In early 2019 the LP ‘Computerlove’ was released on Berlin label Voitax on digital and vinyl formats. Selected tracks of the LP were premiered by platforms such as XLR8R, Resident Advisor and The Ransom Note. 
She collaborated with other electronic artists such as the UK-based L/F/D/M, with whom she released the track Obsolete Vernacular for the compilation album ‘Mothership’ curated by the labels Midnight Shift and Voitax. Many of her own tracks are polished by music producer George Stroud, based in NYC.
