Co-founder of label and event series @motiontheorymusic, @katharine-motiontheory went from influencing over two decades of the dance music scene of Australia's East Coast, to now being based in Naarm and spanning various genres through her vinyl only DJ sets. 

In this almost 2.5 hour-long mix, includes some of Katharine's favourite trip hop, broken beats, Balearic, new minimal sounds and West Coast house records, encapsulating what she's best known for.

As producer & DJ, the best way to describe Philipp Priebe’s music might be as dancefloor-prose. His sounds feel like they wrap you in a blanket of melancholy ~ deep house with the dusty grinds of dub techno. While everything’s seems to become faster & shorter in musical spaces, it feels like a fresh breeze to come across someone you could call an ‚album artist‘. Ready for that hour of a warm blanket.

Based in Scottsdale, her label continues to bridge western Canada’s underground with the European minimal scene, gaining global support through limited vinyl releases and a standout catalog.

JS Zeiter - Context Collapse Remixes (LPY-22.1) clips

fka boursin is a DJ and producer out of Bristol, UK. 
Previously known as DJ Boursin, he is recognized for his deep, ambient-infused house music that explores political dimensions of clubs and identity politics.

Welcomed into the Scissor & Thread fold, fka boursin shares two cuts of deep and introspective electronic music. 

The original Listless Intertext is a hazy trip through ambient soundscapes, shuffling rhythms and half-caught conversations, drifting across a 12 minute run time that slowly evolves and shifts with time.  

"Listless Intertext is a track centred around the "failed" employment of cheap vocoder software that attempted to process explicit words and phrases across 11 minutes." says fka boursin. "Instead, the vocoder output made any words indecipherable and I was left with thematic vagueness. The final text of the track is simply a submission to its own limitations with some french thrown in."

When label bosses Frank & Tony step up for their Housebeat Dub, they keep the essential mood but introduce a thick, fat groove that works just as well in conveying the mood. 

"Our remix is a strictly dancefloor approach," says Frank, "an extended psychedelic beat rework perfect for late night, early morning vibes".

SPCLNCH-BLACK continues: a series where minimalism becomes message, and sound drifts between the real and the imagined.

Chapter two — “Echoes From Iconia” by Basicnoise. Shifting time layers, slow pulses, and distant patterns with no clear origin. The signal is a trace of something that was here — or still is. You listen. Something listens back.

Logbook. Exploration mission.

Day 1. The planet is dead. An anomaly is detected — the time flow is slightly distorted.

Day 2. Landed in the central crater. The clocks of our suits show different times from the clocks on the ship. The gap is increasing.

Day 4. Logs contain records of events that never happened. A report of tomorrow’s evacuation appeared in the system. No one wrote it.

Day 5. We found footprints leading from the landing site to the crater, identical to ours. The ship log was discovered nearby. Final entry: “Do not enter the crater.”

Log transmission terminated. The crew did not reestablish contact.
