This set is about freedom.
Freedom to live freely, 
Freedom to be who we are, 
Freedom to think and act in respect of Mother Earth and all living beings.

This set is dedicated to Kohana, a 20 years old female orca who recently died in captivity. She spent her whole life privated from her freedom to live in the Ocean, among her pod.

Through this musical journey, I set the intention of honoring Kohana, her being, her spirit, her courage to live in captivity for so long. I secretly hope she had experienced joy in her life and even if it was in an aquatic park, I’m sure she had moved a lot of people and planted seeds in people’s consciousness who saw her as who she really is : a magnificent creature of the seas, and not only there to serve human’s desires of being entertained. 

She is now FREE, swimming in the cosmic consciousness! 

During my whole creative process, while I was playing, while I was recording again the set (the first recording was totally saturated and unusable), and even now, while I’m writing these words, she is with me, giving me force and confidence.

I’m amused to think that while I was jumping on the decks, it was her jumping through me.

Therefore, in this musical journey I had to honor to share with you during O’Tawa - Okinawa, I explored various emotions (sadness and anger but also uplifting joy and peace) through different genres, mostly down/darktempo but also melodic techno, downpitched techno, psygressive and house. 

I want to thank all the incredible musicians who made this set happen. 
I have lots of respect for these producers who bring their art into the world and inspire us at every listen.

The artwork is made by me. I picture KoHana spirit, swimming peacefully and freely.

Thanks again O'Tawa for your invitation and thank you all for dancing and honoring Kohana with me.
It was for sure a dance for her and our energies combined to support all the orcas still in captivity to give them force, courage and feelings of joy.

Frederic Leighton fared as an underestimated salon painter up till 1895. Then he painted this masterpiece – Flaming June. It sings to us with radiant color and elemental symbols. Many see this painting as simple. It’s a beautiful woman in a glorious dress. They’re not wrong. But as with most masterpieces, more levels of meaning resonate here. The initial pulse check on this painting delivers heat. It’s titled Flaming June for good reason. Orange bursts through the canvas as cascading fire. The gown’s flames ripple like an out-of-control blaze. This lovely woman seems to sleep inside an inferno. Surrounding details balance this piece, though. It’s not only about fire. Leighton frames June with earth, sea, and air elements to harmonize the painting. Frederic Leighton painted Flaming June only about a year before his death. With that in mind, the painting crosses the boundary between an artist’s work and their legacy. Leighton was popular in his day. As a British painter, he made lots of money and was even knighted. But few would have guessed he’d paint a true masterpiece. His work fit into the category of salon paintings. Today’s equal might be an artist who does pieces to match interiors for one percenter. He far outdid himself with Flaming June, though. This beauty speaks to us beyond any decorator’s vision. It touches us today as a glorious masterpiece.

We are delighted to welcome our next guest, @eve1-lyn, a resident of @octorecords. playing techno-oriented music. Eve Lyn's primary interest was always music. Her life revolves on music. She is a pianist who also sings in a Bulgarian choir and teaches music. Her major concentration as a yoga instructor is music and reciting mantras with various kirtan ensembles. She was requested to DJ at the inaugural Christmas market at Dachkantine in Zurich around 20 years ago. Eve Lyn is very enthusiastic about bringing people together on the dance floor, and after years of performing techno music, Today, she is experimenting with various downtempo genres.

The rāga saga is a series that acts as a cultural collectiva of our favourite artists from all over, Each raga is an array of melodic structures with musical motifs, considered in the Indian tradition to have the ability to "colour the mind" and affect the emotions of the audience and this special journey (raga) comes from a good friend & totally talented @leepdias

From a young age I grew up listening to a lot of music, and fell in love with all kinds of genres. At the age of 10 I started messing around with djing apps which lead to playing at school socials and house parties. That’s where I found my passion for music and I made that my happy place, since then I haven’t looked back..

Initially starting out I enjoyed and played a lot of afro house and edm, I then got more intrigued in the underground side of music and started playing more melodic house and techno and recently In the last couple years I’ve started to incorporate and get into a lot more downtempo, deep ethnic, organic, melodic, indigenous, tribal and desert sounds. My sound has evolved into a very multi cultural vibe ranging from downtempo to techno and everything in between.

Elysium: any place or state of perfect happiness; paradise
A brand all about the music, bringing together friends and all music lovers with an ear for good music with a goal of spreading the love and appreciating nothing but good quality music, vibes and energy.
In 2019 I started my Elysium events brand which focuses on an intimate unique music based vibe as well as The Elysium Soundcloud Cast in July 2021 which features international and local guests with styles of music such as: downtempo, ketapop, melodic & deep house, multicultural, desert house, contemplative, ethnic, spiritual, tribal and storytelling..

For me it’s all about doing it for the love of the music. I would describe my sound story as something crafted from pure passion, appreciation for all music and overall uniqueness for style and selection.

In 2018 I started my soundcloud podcast “Wednesday Weapons” as well as my music related clothing brand “LeepClothing” to try and spread some love and awareness for the music industry and rave culture in SA.
