The Sun Soon Will Shine

When I was a boy, I netted a Stickleback out of the River Sowe. I took him back home and kept him in an old goldfish bowl (previous occupant a Hearsall Common Fair goldfish) in the family house. We couldn't get him to eat fish food, but my Dad discovered he liked Bovril (it's true!). The Stickleback built a nest in the middle of the bowl, and sat in the middle of the nest with his head and lovely red throat showing, waiting for Mrs Stickleback to come along. Of course, he was in a goldfish bowl, so his chances were not good. This is his song.

Music where millennial sound design meets classical harmony, producing moments of sheer beauty encased in hard shells of structured progressions both melodic and harmonic. Electronic music using classical forms with an element of music concrete. Music with orderly planned development, structured, with a destination. Music that demands and rewards attention, that continues to deliver new and fresh insights with repeated listening. Music that requires you to surrender and give yourself up to it for a period, that provides more than a single mood moment or transitory feeling. Perhaps more like a compendium. A book series. A world of its own in multifarious detail, with meaning and which touches deeply.


In my other life I am a British University Professor who has authored a couple of books and more than 100 published papers, and my research is applied all around the world. In this life I am a composer-producer of electro-acoustic music. I eat, drink, and breathe music, study music, analyse music, play music, and create music.
