Description: "Prior to performing this song on The Tonight Show in 1974, Denver said he wrote it for his wife Annie whom he had to leave behind when he was touring early on in his career because he couldn't afford to take her with him. Doubtless Annie appreciated the sentiment, but she didn't appreciate the other women who kept him company when he was away from home; she divorced him in 1982."

This song was inspired by "The Cold Heart" (German: Das kalte Herz), a fairy tale written by Wilhelm Hauff. It was published in 1827 in a collection of fairy tales that take place within the narrative of The Spessart Inn.
Although written almost 200 years ago, the described conflicts of mankind are still up-to-date, maybe even more than before. Preferring status und prosperity over humanity is something which has become socially acceptable.

No One Likes You

Haven’t been on the cloud much lately. Been travelling across the southern Australian coastline, to the beautiful and remote Kangaroo Island. Its beauty seemed strangely juxtaposed to the horrors going on elsewhere. The contrast can wreak havoc with your moods!

I have enjoyed music for as long as I can remember and cannot remember a day of not either singing or listening to music. I am self-taught when it comes to playing guitar but what I most enjoy is singing which I have been doing since around age 18. Now retired singing and playing the guitar is now just a hobby and something I do to help pass the time. Have always  loved the sound of a Martin guitar.
