Thanks to @thebeautifuldark for the inspiration to make this song! 

His song https://soundcloud.com/thebeautifuldark/symbiosis-1 was a big thematic starting point for this track! His song sounds completely different, but that's how its supposed to be. If somebody starts making stuff that sounds like us, you better be sure we're gonna change everything!!!

Anyway, the song is mainly about how the simple AI algorithms of the last decade have already impacted us that it's naive to think that the super AIs of the future are gonna cause anything less than a complete shift in how our world works. 

One great example of the impact so far was the ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya people in Myanmar. Contributed, in large part, by Facebook's algorithm (AI) that deliberately spread false information leading to the death and displacement of hundreds of thousands of people.

Another example, though currently not so palpably catastrophic, has been political polarization in the west. Now, whether you're right or left, we don't give a shit. We don't like politics. But know that the posts you see on social media are particularly targeted at you to turn you into an "enemy". An enemy to who? Not even the AI knows that. 

Right now, the "dumb" AIs of our time have imprisoned every person who uses social media inside their own tailor-made, invisible CAGES - BARRICADED away from their supposed enemies (see what I did there?). And according to the current dogma, even attempting to interact with their "enemy" is Sin. That one specific mentality has single-handedly led to the worst atrocities in human history.

M(A)x(I)mum Carnage

No idea where this song came from! Although to be fair have been listening to a great song on SC from a  fellow musician which covered the loss of a long time friend.  But  this song was always about growing old, just that the first verse became a chorus and vice versa. Which meant the later verses just appeared from nowhere. Hope you are not put off by the lyrical content. Certainly not my style but I have been saying that I was in a bit of a rut with lyrics - in a way?

This song began with Steve, who wrote it on his guitar and sang it, before sharing it with Eclectic Collective about half a year ago, back in the fall. Always grateful to Steve for sharing his amazing music with us, we kept it alive even though it had stalled out on us for whatever reason. 
  We had a decent skeleton from our original go at it, but decided to scrap it, and start fresh. Ken, being the one who actually revived it, added his solid drums first, providing for a groovy foundation. Tez came next, surprisingly, adding his hooky guitar fills throughout. Mark hopped on shortly after, adding the organ you hear coming in around the 2:00 mark. Josh took his turn after that, even though it was only a couple of days between, by adding his fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. He also, in the same recording session, added the electric piano you hear throughout, as well as the organ in the first half. 
  Once it was in the can, we asked Stephen to mix it for us, in his always professional manner. 
  We all love working on Steve's songs, and admire him as a musician, singer, and songwriter. This makes almost a half dozen songs on which the EC has collaborated with Steve, and we're sure to add many more. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

A fun collab with Combstead. 
I was originally thinking of a talkbox like effect for the guitar on the title phrase. Turns out you can't emulate that inside a daw very well. So I was sticking to a vocoder in combination with a wah pedal, both driven by voice input which sounded pretty cool to my ear. 
Did you ever experiment with Talkbox/ vocoder fxs on guitar? Lmk, I'm interested!

I have enjoyed music for as long as I can remember and cannot remember a day of not either singing or listening to music. I am self-taught when it comes to playing guitar but what I most enjoy is singing which I have been doing since around age 18. Now retired singing and playing the guitar is now just a hobby and something I do to help pass the time. Have always  loved the sound of a Martin guitar.
