This is the evolution of the first attempt (http://leonardroussel.com/post/71310151875/dna-sonification) by computing biologist Elizabeth Hénaff (http://elizabeth-henaff.net) and myself to sonify epigenetic sequences found in DNA molecules. The music is generated live in Processing.

This has been presented at the Hacking Arts 2014 (http://www.hackingarts.com/) hackathon at the MIT MediaLab (Cambridge, MA).

It is part of a larger piece which attempts to question the notion of identity and biological self. It involves a visual content as well: A visual interpretation of the same sequence is projected and mapped onto the user's body and follows their movements while the music component is played. The human body thus reveals the DNA visuals which are the innermost component of any living being and are ultimately the supreme identity and proof of unicity of each and every one of us, in a world where conceptual descriptors such as race, gender and social parameters are constantly referred to as a means of definition of individuals.
