Oslo's Rave-enka is back on Paper with an EP that translates as the aptly named 'deep dive'. His trademark dry analogue drums and tech stylings put through the Norwegian wobble filter are present and correct.

Dypdykking goes subterranean with crisp percussion and a sinister bass before breaking to a Detroit pad that builds in intensity before the filters are open and it growls into late night basement stylings.

Drepern wobbles and bumps with a jacking analogue bass and minor synth chords as a pad from the outer breaks the tension. 

Lystigheten is all about the lightness of touch with congas that roll, synths that spark and drums and MPC2000 beats. This is equally at home in Detroit or Berlin.

Ladders takes a nod to the 90s with it's good time stabs and mellow arps and plenty of cosmic stylings.

Never failing to maintain positivity and balmy vibes - Tensnake presents the latest EP on his own label True Romance.

Following releases from Jozef K, 3kelves, Dylan C. Greene and Steve Mill, Geraldine - which came bolstered with the boss himself - the latest offering on True Romance is a quintessential example of makes the label so omni-appreciated. 

Here - Oslo based artist Henrik Villard offers up 4 beautiful grooves, stripped down to the bare minimum: well crafted drums and deftly selected samples all suffused with an irresistible amber glow. 

'I See U' kicks things off with a jubilant, circling sample which is filtered and panned as it fleshes out a crispy House back bone. ‚Breezin - Fall In Love' then follows up with more smiley sampling which is underpinned by a thick, rumbling sub. 

'Love Forever Stands' then sets field recordings and shuffling rim-shots over a cosy kick drum as another sunny sample bleeds into the mix. Sax samples and neat vocal cuts pepper the track in a manner that recalls some of the finest Smallville records before 'While You Are Here' closes things up. 

Script samples, clever arrangement and simple-but-effective loops shine through and bring an exultant collection of floor-fillers to a heart-warming conclusion'.

Braindance is the second, highly anticipated, collaborative EP from Irish producer DJ Mudak 2000 (@djmudak2000) and French producer FTL (@ftlmusik), landing on their new label as the debut release.

Produced in Dublin & Paris, the two prolific junglists have encapsulated the intricacies of modern jungle while still highlighting the emotive elements of yesteryear.
 
The first track “I Wanna” begins as a fantastically light, classic jungle track with piercing soul vocals that unpacks into a soaring brawl of amens and intense 808s. A great representation of the duality of light and dark elements which make this whole EP a standout.

A2 “Barriers” is a driving, high tempo club ready cut. There is absolutely no messing about with this one, in your face reece business for the peak timers. 

On the flipside, title track “Braindance” is a complex yet ethereal roller carried along by hovering staccato vocals that are contrasted with a deep cutting sub that will hit you in all of the right spots. 

The final track “Chasing A Dream” lives up to its name as its emotive synth lines and Sad Boys-esque cowbells will fill you with the tangible feelings of want and passion.

Filippo Tazzer, label manager and executive producer, continues in his search for underrated talents, enhancing his talent, musical sensitivity and evident production skills. After having entrusted the baptism of the label to Reekee and Colosimo, the moment is propitious to introduce another Italian Producer:
Phonorem, fresh with a new album called “Algorythm”.
Phonorem production skills in those 4 tracks embrace different styles forged by his 90’s hip-hop and drum and bass roots, by mixing synthetizers and drum machines with samples.

SEAMLESS, the track that gives the EP its title, is a deep-house track with double bass - bassline and atmospheric scenarios by manipulating old Italian movie soundtracks samples.

PREE, is a downbeat track which made homage to DJ Premier beats, with some melodies created with a Chinese hammered dulcimer.

FLIP DOWN gives a high contrast experience: fusing a raw drum machine rhytm with dreamy pads and a mysterious vocal.

LOW FAT is a heavy bass kick track with some sythetizers-melodies with a story to tell. With a happy end.

A thick cloud of pale yellow smoke billed out of the test tube, filling the clinical-looking, white washed room with a bitter odour that bristled the hairs on your nostrils. Different experiments took place at each table in the laboratory, trials and tests that came with equally positive and negative results. In their small lab-coat adorned groups, they clustered around their equipment with inquisitive expressions and furrowed brows, concocting special potions and medicines for motives we knew not.

Cologne imprint Minimood Extra - the offshoot of Minimood - are charging into 2023 arm in arm with an old label mate, David Hausdorf and his new vinyl-only EP ACID. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Unlike his previous deep dives into dub techno and Detroit-influenced sounds, the Berlin native (who is also a cellist for Munich Philharmonic Orchestra!) explores the wonders of the 303, fashioning four hypnotic tracks centred around squelching acid lines and paired with electro and techno influences.

Since first appearing on toucan sounds in 2020, Brandon Markell Holmes’ inimitable voice has seen him establish himself as a staple on the label. Now, the imprint collects three iconic appearances from the artist on vinyl, with an additional remix from legendary house lynchpin Derrick Carter. Originally released as part of a collaborative EP with Rogue Vogue, Derrick bumps up the tempo of ‘Someone Else’, introducing earworm keys and tough drums, while maintaining the warmth of Brandon’s vocals.

A series of cassette variations in the turmoil of the days is opened by a collective improvement of high-class Russian craftsmen — VA Spazio Invasore Vol. 1.

The tape custom is fully equipped with collective images in the spirit of its time. Two sides come together: day and night, light and twilight. The rhythmic in-depth intro sets the pace with a touch of space disco, which is periodically warmed up by retrospective Indian chants.

A more dense continuation falls into the rut of modernity with airy synthesizer additives. As soon as the first side crosses the equator, acid projections mixed with Italian classics and a little whimsical freshness of new disco immediately begin to sound with bright inclusions.
The clever alternate combination of the same elements with the addition of high energy switches to the B side, demonstrating a bold modern look at production. Next, a color of intensity appears with a hint of Depeche Mod and Sovietwave, giving way to trance non-trivial indie dance, and then again going into the mysterious haze of acidity.
