Raise and Radio Loubard are proud to present Epistolar.

Epistolar is the first Various Artist of an epistolary genre, originating from a collaboration between Raise Records and Radio Loubard. Its structure is composed of correspondences of several authors, several characters, several sensibilities, and several messages. Aiming at co-constructing a story in perpetual motion, Epistolar is the result of various connections on which each artist depends.

The concept is simple : an artist produces a track which is sent to another artist whose mission is to freely modify the initial message. The artist adds to this letter his or her message before sending it to another artist. The recipient does the same without knowing what the first artists composed and so on.

Epistolar’s narrative is available to new authors, encouraging the continuation of a never-ending, evolving and collaborative story. Listening to it as a conversation between artists, the listener is introduced to the various connections making him/her an integral part of the movement.

Damian aka Virus is a DJ born in Warsaw who has been present on the stage for over a decade. He participated in several projects promoting techno and drum & bass in the capital. He likes to experiment with electronics. His sets are deep, dark and hypnotic sounds on the one hand, and distorted industrial on the other. Currently, the style he presents is a selection of sophisticated sounds of techno, drum & bass and experimental. He is also a listener of such music as: post punk, industrial rock, trip hop, grime, hip hop. At the beginning of 2020, he launched his own mini podcast, Broken Tape, in which he focuses on deep varieties of drum & bass, techno and experimental.

[PDCST215] - Swarm Intelligence

This mix is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, or "Forest Bathing". I find this to be such a beautiful concept. It is something that has helped me a lot in my life. There is also a rich and deep Irish mythology surrounding forests and their magical inhabitants. The mix taps into this ancient mysticism as it takes us deeper and deeper into the woods.

The voice comes from a radio, protests in a country far away. Under the rising sun, cranes stalk the horizon, building more towers for the super-rich. Was it a dream, or did you hear sirens in the night? Qui volé? Who stole?
Built around a simple mantra sampled from the radio news, a simple organ bassline, and layers of shifting, swirling, insect-like bleeps and shuffles, Qui Volé is a hypnotic, international groove for paranoid times.

Vertigo inc is the freeform house project of Canadian producer Leon Louder, appearing on his homegrown label Unfulfillment as well as UK label Mysticisms, and Powder’s 2018 mix CD for Beats In Space.

Flabbergast (Vincent Lemieux and Guillaume Coutu-Dumont) deliver with a wobbly, swinging late night dub version on the flip, while two tripped out breakbeat oddities round out the two sides.

Dedication to details, attention to structure and a tireless pursuit of that specific and circular sound. The contextual element of ’Time Tracks’ seem to be placed in-between the most cordial music that Skudge has presented up until now, as well as bridging the singularity and adrenaline from the previous albums and EP’s.

We are invited into a palette of vivid mastery of details, brushes of percussion and narrowed basses that shatters deep. Pads and strings which acts as a foundation, evolves the music to a rigid composure.

A sonic narrative that seem to stem from motifs of the Earth, reflections of personal flair and moments remembered, dwelling on records collected. ’Ifach’ serves as an ode to the legendary UK imprint. Combining ’Time Tracks’ into a stark collection of studio sessions that features colleagues Daniel Andréasson (on Function) and Samo DJ (on Ifach).

One could argue that this is a territory proven to tick all the functional boxes, but Skudge manages to yet again display a highly personal take in a realm of conciseness.
