Berlin's disco wizard @Delfonic is an incredible talent. Having just released his second EP of edits for Colombia's ace Nómada Records, we spoke to him in depth about the EP, Berlin, working with Nómada and his favourite year in disco 1977. 

He's a DJ who always lays down spellbinding sets, a product of some seriously impressive musical knowledge, and having already delivered one sublime mix for Le Visiteur we are very pleased to have tempted him back behind the decks for us this time delivering a worship mix for that most fabled of disco years 1977.

It's been a while since we properly caught up with @seanmccabe, based in Bristol, Sean is one of the UK's finest house producers, he is also behind the classy label @goodvibrationsbristol which consistently releases some of the finest Soulful house around.

His latest project is an album with Chicago songwriter and producer Harold Matthews Jr who has worked with the likes of Ron Trent, Terry Hunter, Maurice Joshua and Ron Carroll crafting songs such as “Ritual Of Love” and Barbara Tucker’s “I Get Lifted”. 

We have a full interview with Sean incoming about the project, in the meantime he put together a worship mix for us picking out some of Harold Matthews Jr's finest moments. It's an incredible mix showing the depth and breath of his work.

April 16th sees the inaugural Scottish House & Disco Festival landing at SWG3 in Glasgow, we are going to be covering the festival heavily in the coming month talking to many of the artists appearing at the event.

First up is Irish collective @queenanddisco and we can't think of anyone better to start proceedings. We have been keeping an eye on these renowned party starters for a few years now as they continue to build a reputation for their high octane mix sessions be it from their live events or their lockdown streams during the height of Covid.

Their appearance at the Scottish House & Disco Festival gives us the perfect opportunity to get them in for a long overdue chat about their career to date and what we can expect when we catch them live. To top it all off they have put together a barnstormer of a mix to kick off our festival mixtape series. A mainstay of the Portland and Seattle scenes since the late 90's, Pacific Northwest native Trevor Vichas has entertained audiences with his mesmerising blend of house, garage, and techno meets jazz, disco, and hip hop; warm rolling basslines, hypnotic chord progressions, and soulful vocals that speak with a message of love.  It’s a sound showcased here on his Gangstercast as Trevor explains, “This mix represents me as an artist in how I move though various house sounds creating a forward moving mix that keeps you shaking that ass and guessing what I am going to play next.  The mix is on the deeper soulful of house that I play.”

“The process for choosing the tracks to make my Gangstercast took a few days.  When I selected the tracks for this mix, the thought in mind was to play timeless music.   I started with a pile of some of my new favorite tracks from the last couple of years, some classic tunes that I love to play, and some of my selected production work that I am personally in love with.   After that it took a couple of long sessions to weed out some tracks and add some others in.   I had about 80 tracks laid out to play and what got mixed in the first two hours was my final mix.”

Since completing his first tracks in 2008, Trevor’s productions have appeared in the playlists of heavy-hitters such as Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Iz & Diz, Phil Weeks, Hector Morales and DJ Heather. Labels including Robsoul, Flatpack, Phobic and countless others have all commissioned Trevor for original music and remixes.

The names above will leave you in no doubt that Trevor Vishas is a bonafide House Gangster!  He comments, “The house gangster movement to me is about being down for house 110% all day everyday. I have seen a lot of people coming in and out of house music, and then play whatever is a trending to get a gig.  It really boils down to being dedicated to house music for life, not giving up and being true to house music!  House music is very much a spiritual thing to me.  Whether I am listening, playing or working in the studio on beats, there is a feeling that emanates from me when house is involved. It has become a way of life to me and I am able to express my inner most feeling though the music I play and produce.”

Featuring 32 tracks this mix is my tribute to the music and energy of Mighty Mouse ( @mightymouse-1 ). I’ve tried to incorporate tunes from across his career, from his early Nu Disco cuts to his well loved disco edits and his more recent house edged productions. 

There are a few unreleased edits that he gave me when we DJ’d together, side-by-side with his huge underground hits The Spirit and Midnight Mouse.
