It's been a good few months since the last Lumberjacks In Hell (@marcelvogel) release and it's very safe to say that we've been missing them here at LV online. Opening up their 2022 account they have a delicious 8 track mini album from Berlin's Panna Cotta.

Edging away from their usual deep house and deep disco fare here Lumberjacks In Hell deliver a seriously slick album which touches on the more chilled end of the electronic spectrum.

Panna Cotta's combination of heartfelt modern disco and electronic pop is a triumph. It's packed with soul, warmth and depth and has a sound as unique to Panna Cotta as perhaps the sound of Air, Zero 7 and Cinematic Orchestra was immediately identifiable to those acts in their heydays. You might want to whisper it but it perhaps has even more of an edge than those predecessors. Composed, mixed, and mastered on vintage analog equipment it's an album which simply shines, a combination of reverence to the past and the inklings of a glorious future ahead.

Today I’m speaking to Kathy Sledge who found international fame in the 70’s and 80’s with Sister Sledge.

Kathy has had a truly incredible career which spans six decades now from childhood stardom to solo success she has travelled the world whilst creating some of dance music’s best recognised tracks. With super hits including We Are Family, Lost in Music, He’s The Greatest Dancer and Thinking Of You she had brought joy to millions all over the globe. With a brand new audience continuing to discover those tracks Kathy continues to keep busy branching out into TV production and creating music shows.

With a brand new track Kathy Sledge & Operation Funk Could It Be You? Arriving this week on Point Blank Records Kathy continues to inspire. I caught up with her to discuss the release and her incredible career talking about Sister Sledge, working with Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, recording with Horsemeat Disco, Roger Sanchez and some of the new projects that she is working on.

@eddiec is one of the kings of the Slo-Mo disco scene. Based in Berlin but hailing from Canada he's a DJ who is in demand across the globe and known for his energy soaked DJ sets and eclectic dancefloor filling tastes.

His latest release finds him landing on the hallowed grounds of @soulclaprecs with a rather brilliant 7" featuring two tracks of divine Soul and Disco infused gems. A side I Wanna Know touches on early 90's Soul II Soul era Street Soul whist equally nodding it's head to the likes of Loose Ends and SOS Band. Huge synth brass licks and chunky drums ably support the classy vocal from Idriss.

Over on the flip and our premier today is Rendez-Vous which touches on classic Aeroplane and Chromeo era Nu Disco boogie. The delicious bassline does some serious dancefloor damage here yet still leaves lots of space for the effervescent laser synths and hooky 80's edged vocal.

@kokorodisco-san first popped up with their joyous Isla Fantasía / Sonic Feeling EP on Rocafort Records back in 2019. It was an EP which sat perfectly across the tangent between Jazz, Funk and Disco. It was also an EP which fully caught the attention of @razor-n-tape who have been working with the trio of musicians from Barcelona to create the very aptly named Sunshine EP which arrives this week on Razor-N-Tape Reserve.

A fabulous four tracker, it features two originals and two takes on the title track by label co-head @JKriv which all combine perfectly for a must have summer release.

To celebrate the releases Kokoro Disco-San delivered a fully live mixtape for our disco selectors series. It's a classy mix which perfectly showcases their feel-good sun-soaked take on disco.
