With his brand new single South West Cruisin, out on Tropical Disco Records right now, Reece Johnson has delivered yet another classy slice of disco aimed firmly at the dancefloor. 

We took the chance to catch up with Reece and also twist his arm to deliver another one of his quality mixes for Le Visiteur following his brilliant club mix for us last year. This time Reece stepped up to the decks and delivered a worship mix for one of his favourite labels, Defected. Something we were wholeheartedly all up for.

We featured 79.5's eponymous album last year on our Disco Juice column as one of the disco releases of the month back in May. Soulful and psychedelic it combined a multitude of sounds and influences from 70's disco to acid Jazz into something intimate and utterly delectable. Fast forward to April this year and now 79.5 and Razor-n-Tape are back with an EP of some of the highlights from the album remixed by some serious players. Step up JKriv, Malik Hendricks, Jubilee, Damien Harris and the brilliant FSQ whose take on B.D.F.Q. injects some serious sleazy dancefloor funk into the track.

To celebrate the release we had a quick chat with 79.5 and they also recorded a sumptuous worship mix packed with some of their favourite female led 80's rare groove and as you might expect it's rather brilliant. Slow Mo Lounge and its founder, Kongisto, are back with another global mixtape collab. It's the 2nd global mixtape series collab for 2024 and this time it features Razor-N-Tape co-founder plus DJ, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, the one and only, Brooklyn, USA's JKriv.

With a professional musical career stretching nearly two decades, JKriv has gained serious musical attention for his original productions and inspired DJ sets. He was even called ‘an innovator of the scene’ by Defected Records boss, Simon Dunmore.

JKriv’s production credits include releases and remixes on Z Records, Soundway Records, Heist, Razor-N-Tape, Glitterbox and Favourite Records, to name a few.
