Daje Funk has become a real go to label if you love a modern take on classic funk which has been meticulously recrafted to work for today's dancefloors. There have been some real moments on the label already De Gama, Massimo Berardi, DJ Rocca and some of the finest producers out there today working in the disco and edits scenes.

Their latest release is the Slam Dunk EP and the name hits the nail right on the head. It's most definitely a musical slam dunk with four tracks from across the funk spectrum as an all-star cast of producers Ronny Hammond, Shit Hot Soundsystem, Uptown Funk and Coldbeard all take turns to vie for dancefloor gold.

Our premier today is Ronny Hammond’s ‘Keep On Groovin’ and it’s a very serious club track featuring a classic "where do I know that from" vocal sample. @twinsunmusic are a duo that we have been watching for some time now with a series of excellent releases via Midnight Riot, Discoholics Anonymous, Too Slow To Disco and Hot Digits as well as some great fun free edits via their Soundcloud. Their latest release see's them remixing none other than one of the legendary bands of disco, @odyssey-nyc.

New York City is a brand new production from Steven Collazo from Odyssey featuring a classic vocal from original Odyssey vocalist Lillian Lopez, who sadly passed away in 2012. Recorded nearly 20 years ago it captures the warmth, depth and feeling of classic era Odyssey perfectly. Twin Sun meanwhile have proven a deft touch on the remix bringing the track perfectly up to date for the 2021 dancefloor.

@mrdoris is a hugely well regarded DJ plying his trade between Ibiza and The UK. As a selector involved in some of the Ibiza's most successful club nights over the last decade he has already built up a strong following. 2021 has also seen him have a serious break through year as a producer with ace releases and collaborationss coming via Ghetto Disco, In It Together, Bombstrikes and Black Riot. 

His latest track Dance With Somebody see's him yet again teaming up with Sydney based producer @d-funk to drop the insanely catchy Dance With Somebody via @slightlytransformed. With remixes coming from another LV favourite The Owl this is a great package.

Iberican native Mr Doris teams up once more with occasional partner-in-crime D-Funk, AKA Sydney-based Brit Doug Masters. With a robot-voiced spoken intro giving way to huge keyboard vamps and an in-your-face, looped/chanted "you got the right to dance with somebody" vocal, 'Dance With Somebody' is a surefire attention-getter and as such probably best reserved for peaktime play, while The Owl supplies two fairly self-explanatory Nu Disco and Slo Mo remixes. The latter will slot nicely into chilled/Balearic sets, but you can't beat the Original for sheer infectious danceability. Some rather lovely lil' jazzy keyboard licks in there, too.
