One of the most important people in my life name is Sue. She is kind, she is warm and ever relaxed. Now I'm almost certain that Australian expat Jad & The doesn't know her personally, however he's crafted a record that's a reminder of all the amazing things she's done for me. 

At Bolting Bits, we've always been loyal fans of Jad & The's productions. Having previously dropped EP's on classy imprints such as Toy Tonics, FINA Records and his very own Beats Of No Nation, he has now linked up with Julius Steinhoff, owner of Down By The Lake. As release No.4 on the label Jad grabs a spot by the still waters alongside Saile, Ron Blanco and TRP.

Our attention is set firmly on the the A1 'Two Dancing', a beautiful ride. Melding a stunning piano scale, steady kick drum, hypnotic hi-hats and a vocal snatch that sounds like my godmother's name, we have a tune that should cast your mind back to fond memories...whatever they may be? The Aussie has an obvious knack for writing, selecting but a handful of instruments and somehow always stringing them together in harmony. I bet this would go down an absolute treat at a wedding reception for a couple's first dance. They'd of course have to be lovers of house music but hey aren't we all.

Hop to it as this one's a vinyl only release with a sterling Moomin remix of the B2 'Archy Krules'.

PREMIERE: Jad & The - Two Dancing

No stranger to the FH premiere in-tray is our favourite haired Australian, Jad & The (@jad-lee) who takes a ride out of town for a  trip, @downbythelake. Helmed by Smallville's Julius Steinhoff, the imprint makes it's forth foray into the sonisphere with this four tracked introspective beauty, with none other than Moomin on remix duty.

The Beats of No Nation co-founder delivers three cuts which shimmer on the surface, while getting down deep enough to look what lies beneath. Despite it's nonchalant title, 'That's Cool' sports a pensive loop, accompanied by equally as earnest textures, all beautifully counterbalanced with luscious percussion. Squinting over Taupo you can just make out where the blazing ether melts into the icey blue. It was worth the ride.

Lebanese Feedasoul Records 32nd EP is 'Impossible Things' courtesy of Belgian's Max Telaer. Berlin's Habibi Grooves' take on the title track 'Impossibles Things' brings another dimension to the track with a flow more associated with dusty hiphop. With it's piano loops, MPC vocal chops as well as the tantalising acid-riddled bassline that ties it all together. This is a serious vibe.

About The Band:
El Ten Eleven is a Los Angeles-based instrumental indie rock duo consisting of Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogarty. What separates El Ten Eleven from their peers is that they are only two musicians on stage creating pounding landscapes of sound with no laptops or sequencers. Dunn switches off (sometimes mid-song) between a double-neck bass/guitar and a fretless bass, while his feet dance on an extensive floorboard of looping devices and effects pedals. He plays everything live, loops himself and juggles all the layers of tracks on top of each other. Fogarty switches between traditional acoustic drums, roto toms and electronic drum pads, usually within each song. To add to the insanity, Fogarty will occasionally loop himself as well. The densely textured, atmospheric instrumental sounds of their first two full-length albums (the self-titled debut El Ten Eleven and their follow-up Every Direction Is North) have been praised alongside the work of such post-rock elite as Tortoise, Explosions in the Sky, and Sigur Rós. With their third album, These Promises Are Being Videotaped, the duo took a leap in a new direction more akin to dance-rock envelope pushers Ratatat and Soulwax.


About The Album:
While there isn’t a note of singing to be found on the album, the band’s song titles reveal the breadth of emotions and playfulness found within. “The Sycophants Are Coming! The Sycophants Are Coming!” bursts forth with a nervous tension while the humorlessly named “Marriage Is The New Going Steady” illustrates that an inspired guitar lick can say just as much as words in a love song. Then there’s the aptly titled “Ian Mackaye Was Right,” a nod to the DIY pioneer of Minor Threat and Fugazi fame. "I've had seven record deals, major and indie, it never seemed to work,” bassist Dunn reveals. “As soon as we started doing things on our own is when we found success. That's what that song is about." Like the last two, this LP will be out on their Fake Record Label imprint.

Music video for “The Sycophants Are Coming! The Sycophants Are Coming!” is to be released in early November and then the video for “Falling” will be out in January.

Recent touring includes a 37-show headlining tour across the US through this past September and October. They were supported on the entire tour by Anticon youngster Baths and then also regionally by Dosh (Anticon) and Sister Crayon (Manimal). They sold out shows in NYC, Seattle, SF, DC, Philly, Austin, and San Diego – and then also had very strong (near sell-out shows) in Denver, Chicago, Boston, Portland, and Boise.

Upcoming touring includes New Year’s Eve in Dallas at Trees and a tour of secondary markets in the southwest in January, and then another national tour in the spring.

Upcoming film score to be composed and performed by El Ten Eleven for Urbanized, which is the final installment of Gary Hustwit’s design documentary trilogy. They also did the original score for the first two films of the series (Helvetica and Objectified), both of which prominently featured the music of El Ten Eleven.

Live Ones returns with a belting new 12’’ EP featuring five deep and sultry tracks from five artists hailing from four different countries. Windows (formally DJ Windows XP) kicks things off with their familiar dusty and melancholic drive, pulling all the right heartstrings on ‘I Wanted To Share My Feelings But You Kept Talking’. Label owner Lorca’s ‘Sirens’ follows this on a similar, ravey vibe with stomping kicks, breaks, breast-beating string samples and bleeps.

The flip side sees the talented and experienced Intr0beatz in amazing form utilizing rich, orchestral strings and his signature house grooves to produce the infectious ‘For The Love’. Keith Lorraine (also known as Baby Rollen) of London is up next with the emotionally rich ‘Wild Flower’. The track builds nicely into the final cut ‘Dreams’ from Canada’s Mathew Ferness. Here we see the artist at his best, using looping vocals and piano stabs to great effect, completing an EP that will work just as well in your headphones as it will on the dancefloor.

We are hugely excited with the news of the re-emergence of UK legends Black Science Orchestra with the seriously talented line-up of @ashley-beedle, Rob Mello and Darren Morris. BSO were a hugely influential outfit in the 90’s with a succession of classic singles including 'Where Were You', 'New Jersey Deep' and 'Save Us (Funky Music)' on Junior Boys Own.

It is perhaps fitting that their debut offering in their current incarnation see’s them remixing Terry Farley’s new project The Spaces Between and Black Science Orchestra have really gone to town with a huge remix package. We are huge fans of @YoungPulse here at LV online,  he was one of the featured artists of our Le Visiteur Presents Series at the start of 2020 before the Covid pandemic changed our world. His tracks are regular features in LV DJ sets and on LV online. His production style is warm, yet powerful, for us he's one of the powerhouse's of the current disco revivial.

@felipe-gordon is an artist who we have been following very closely over the last few years as he powers his way through the electronic world. Hailing from Bogota in Colombia he's an artist with a wide musical spectrum which is ably show by the breath of his upcoming album 'A Landscape Onomatopeya' on the ace @shallnotfade label. 

Showing off all his trademarks of outstanding jazz edged playing, classic house themes and wonderfully warm South American infused themes it's a sublime release on which we have loads more incoming.
