Home Is Where House Is Playing 121 [Housepedia Podcasts] I James Juke

A Chance To Dance returns with the first edition of February. We have been enjoying so much variety across the many shades of new deep house releases this month.

Starting soulfully, we enjoy some vocal goodness from Smthing smtime on the fantastic new Razor-N-Tape VA which accompanies other great records from 
Wajeed, KVRBVO & Black Chynese. Hitting with a more punchier & dubbier sound comes new ones from Melboure Drum Authority & Fouk.

Mallorca based ESUOH don't release that often, but when they do its always top notch. Hurlees Keep It Real EP displays that classic house sound the label is renowned for and we are here for it! Also included are double whammys from Demuja, a piano stabber from Saison and a little classic from John Billick.

Tune of the session for us though is handed to the new Ben Hauke release on Last Year At Marienbad with the EPs new teaser 'Watch Me Now'.

Joining us this week is a very good friend of ours. He's the first guest to appear across both of our radio shows having been on That Disco Groove back in 2021. Since then, T Sounds has refined his music into a wonderful blend of rolling and deep hypnotic grooves. He has poured the passion from his life experiences into a number of beautiful releases over the past few years. They have earned huge support, take Berry Picker for example, which is now on its approach to 200k listens having been premiered by house heavyweight Houseum. Over the past year he has released on TheBasement Discos, Rewind & Miura with chart support from Reece Johnson, Alex Moiss, Simplex Motive & Doorly. His guest mix is a great interpretation of deep house through his eyes, and with 23 (yes 23!) tracks in one hour, including some of his own productions, it creates plenty of ear raising moments! @miltonjackson has appeared on the pages of LV quite a few times now since stepping back into the scene in 2020 after a lay off for a few years. His latest EP sees him teaming up with London's @skioakenfull for something of a production dream team. Ski has a mighty history in the music scene via his band The K-Kreative and he has also played keys with Galliano, Ray Stylus, 2 banks of 4 and The Bays, written with Incognito, Dave Lee and Valerie Etienne.

Their 'Integration EP' features four delicious house tracks from deep to electronic, euphoric to club focused infused with warmth, depth and a whole lot of musical quality.

@somethinsanctified are back with a sun infused EP for @Citizensofvice and as with their previous releases on the label it's rather tasty indeed. Four tracks of Balearic edged house, wonderfully crafted and packed full of intrigue.

Our premier from the EP today is Sugar Daddy (Be Close) a warm and inviting track replete with a lazy hazy groove which holds you in tight merging analogue bliss with electronic nous. As always when it comes to Somethin' Sanctified the production is straight out of the top of the top drawer.

Following the intergalactic odyssey of their first release, Hi Quality Records are back for round two. Switching to hyperdrive for another blast round the sun with two feel-good, cosmic channelling, disco burners from the mighty More Amour aka Artwork and Jon Solo.
 
Cruising out across the cosmos ‘Solar Flair’ is a sublime slice of boogie brilliance, with an infectious bassline and keys to match. Turning the heat up to 10 with Jon Solo on the solos, spiritually working those keys as Artwork conjures up his magic at the production controls. If you could drop the top on this spaceship and roll those windows down, this is definitely the groovin’, head bobber you’d have soundtracking your beam across the interplanetary highways.
 
With that non-existent breeze flowing over your spacesuit, ‘Heatwave’ ramps up proceedings on the B side. A funk-fuelled trip where sweltering Rodgers-esque riffs and slap basslines dance around string stabs and smile-inducing chords, with a signature spellbinding synth solo to top it all off. @pbrstreetgang are celebrating their 20th Anniversary with the release of a superb compilation of their work from across their career. During that period they have released on Futureboogie, Throne Of Blood, 2020Vision, Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels and Skint Records and remixed Kylie, Lana Del Rey, Bryan Ferry, Hot Chip and Friendly Fires and that’s just the tip of the ice berg.

They are a duo who have immersed themselves in club music and that dedication flows through their musical DNA.

The compilation straddles the whole 20 years from their early originals right through some of their finest remixes including never previously pressed gems from Bryan Ferry, Hot Chip and Romanthony.

Revered veteran Italian producer Sebra Cruz has a brand new album incoming on 21st April via DJ Tennis stellar imprint @lifeanddeath. The 11 track album combines a variety of electronic styles but has an overarching Italian warmth and unique sense of style. From the deep melodic warmth of his collaboration Margaret with DJ Tennis via the groove infused electronic boogie of Don't Worry Psy Happy and onwards to bass jam Dancebra and euphoric When Life Was Slow it's an album packed with class. Packing in breakbeat and experimental vibes it's an album which crosses many boundaries but which still ties together beautifully.
