Palms Trax signals the arrival of his new label CWPT with ‘Petu’, a new single featuring South African vocalist, Nonku Phiri. Originally debuting in dub form during the Berlin-based DJ and producer’s set at The Music Locker as part of Grand Theft Auto Online, ‘Petu’ reemerges here as a soulful collaboration, neatly complimented by a wide-eyed take from Masalo.

Initially written as a slow-heating instrumental to connect the various musical dots across a DJ set, Palms Trax nonetheless had a vocalist in mind throughout, a fresh voice to lend ‘Petu’ universality and energy. Introduced through mutual friend Esa, Johannesburg’s Nonku Phiri draws on her signature style influenced by vintage Afropop styles and folk traditions, delivering a smooth and vulnerable tale of desire. Triumphant brass recorded by instrumental collective Jungle By Night adds to the depth of instrumentation and feeling throughout, each element driven by Palms Trax’s ebullient percussion and an altogether celebratory energy felt across both the original and dub cuts.

Closely associated with Dutch dance music staple Rush Hour Records, Masalo subtly raises the tempo on his high-energy rework of Petu, spinning off the interconnected elements of the original into a memorable and gloriously Italo-tinged house trip.

Established in 2021, CWPT will play home to Palms Trax original productions alongside collaborations, mixtapes, new-generation artists and vital reissues. An online blog will feature interviews, reportage and charts exploring the stories past and present at the fringe of Palms Trax’s wide-reaching record collection.

@6thboroughproject are quite rightly cult figures in the house and disco scene, comprising two of Scotland's finest ever producers in Edinburgh's Craig Smith and Glasgow's Graeme Clark (aka The Revenge) who is now domiciled in Copenhagen.

Working together for well over a decade the pair have a symbiotic relationship which it comes to production crafting stellar disco infused deep house packed with rawkus groove.

Their latest EP 'Rhythm And Truth' see's them land back on @delusionsofgrandeur after a near 10 year hiatus from the label and boy what a return as they merge that deep disco sensibility with warm synths and inviting basslines.

Our premier today from the EP is the powerhouse groover 'Keep On', a name which it's safe to say is pretty much perfect for the track. Dance floor gold through and through.

Originally landing a couple of years back on vinyl @oliverdollar's Braeburn EP is quality collection of house music. Now finally seeing a digital release via @refugeaus the EP sees Oliver working with Brillstein and also drafting in Demuir on remix duties for four absolute quality dancefloor rocking house jams.

@Siggatunez has definitely been hitting all the right notes over the last few years and most especially since the launch of his Gooey label in 2020. That said, he has been putting the work in behind the scenes since his first releases at the end of the 00's appearing everywhere from Tilly Jam and Nurvous to Future Disco and Suol.

His latest EP, which lands on vinyl and digital this week, see's him launch an offshoot of Gooey with @gooeytraxx as he delivers the four track 'Live Cutz' EP which is packed with powerhouse house cuts taken directly from his current live set. Raw, dynamic and captivating are just a few adjectives which pop to mind to describe an EP which has that decidedly warm and exciting live feel throughout.

Our premier for the EP today is the deep and hypnotic breakbeat jam Trust Me<. A real delight fusing deft keys, looped up synth stabs and vocal hits, euphoric pads and a proper bubbler of a bassline.

Not so much a premier today as a re-discovery. As part of the 20th anniversary of the release of their 2003 spiritual house anthem ‘Wesley Music’ which was voted Gilles Peterson's Track of the Year on his Radio 1 Worldwide show RSL have reformed their full 8 piece band and are pulling out all the stops to celebrate this momentous moment in their history.

They are releasing their brilliant RSL album digitally for the first time on the 4th August. Born in the Manchester petri dish of the late 90's which saw the meeting of house, hip-hop and drum-n-bass the album took this energy and applied their own love of seminal Latin and world music, Jazz and percussion conjuring up an album which sounds just as incredible 20 years into the future. Adding in touches of flamenco with steely brass licks and soaring vocals it's a joyous album which fully deserves a second chance at life.

Alongside the album release the original band are playing at We Out Here Festival, Blues Kitchen, Manchester, and the Jazz café. They have also released the stems of another of their well loved tracks The Mast (Love will be strong) which are available on Bandcamp right now for all the budding producers amongst out readers.

Back in the day there were also some heavyweight remixes done of The Mast and Wesley Music and we are very pleased to bring one of these back for your listening pleasure as scene legend Danny Krivit goes to work on Wesley Music under his MR K guise delivering a sumptuous energy packed Latin club jam.
