April 16th sees the inaugural Scottish House & Disco Festival landing at SWG3 in Glasgow, we are going to be covering the festival heavily in the coming month talking to many of the artists appearing at the event.

First up is Irish collective @queenanddisco and we can't think of anyone better to start proceedings. We have been keeping an eye on these renowned party starters for a few years now as they continue to build a reputation for their high octane mix sessions be it from their live events or their lockdown streams during the height of Covid.

Their appearance at the Scottish House & Disco Festival gives us the perfect opportunity to get them in for a long overdue chat about their career to date and what we can expect when we catch them live. Hot Digits: Year Eight (Mixed By Fingerman)

Non-smoking, 5'11", spotlight-avoiding music producer, crate digger, rare DJ but all-round music aficionado, originally from the UK's East Midlands but currently living in the Middle East, YSE Saint Laur' Ant, is the latest international guest in the Slow Mo Lounge global mixtape series. He plays a solid 1-hour set, alongside Slow Mo Lounge (South Africa) founder, Kongisto.

The mix begins with an hour of filtered slo-mo disco-house loops and weirded-out samples over hypnotic shuffles - breezy, disco-drenched yacht rock. 

In the second hour and a half, Kongisto, plays household favourite slow-burners, new disco edits, and unreleased versions, collected from some of the best genre-based producers around the globe.

Popular for his smash hits, 'Warm Wind Brewing' and 'I Own The Boogie' off his 2013 EP, 'Beards', YSE Saint Laur' Ant's credits include labels like Whiskey Disco, Editorial, Pressed For Time, Vinyl Only, Swedish Brandy, Lost My Dog, Ornate Music, City Fly, Pickpocket, and Blockhead Recordings (to name a few). This man is a giant producer, and his musical ability is no exception.

The Best Of 80s Casuals Edits (Chuggin Edits)

@javi-frias is a well respected DJ and producer from the disco and house scene. He began collecting and playing records as a young ‘soul boy' at the end of the nineties in Madrid, his hometown, and since then he has not stopped traveling to share his music through many venues, clubs and festivals worldwide. New York, Cairo, London, Mexico City, Paris, Barcelona, Washington DC, Amsterdam or Berlin are some of the places where he has had the opportunity to carry out his incendiary, eclectic and danceable sets full of disco, boogie, afro, funk, house and soulful sounds.

In the past few years he has begun to make noise at international level thanks to his edits and reworks, published a handful of EPs and singles on influential labels like Street Edits, Tropical Disco Records, Giant Cuts, Midnight Riot, Boogie Café or Bons Records. His music is played and charted regularly by top DJs such Danny Krivit, Detroit Swindle, Red Greg, Horse Meat Disco, Jacques Renault, Rahaan, Marcel Vogel, Folamour, Get Down Edits, Frank Booker...

In 2017 he started his own label Night Shift Records, devoted to edits and reworks of disco and house, where he has released in vinyl and digital his own productions and occasionally the work of other fellow producers. He's also part of the mysterious Disco Pocho label, focused on the soul and funk side of the disco edit, where he has already released a couple of 7”.

He is currently resident DJ and booker of Discotizer, the best disco, boogie and house party in Spain currently taking place at El Sotano, where he has invited and shared the decks with artists like Louie Vega, Joey Negro, Danny Kirivit, Eli Soul Clap, Detroit Swindle, Rahaan, Red Greg, HMD, Eli Escobar, Dan Shake, Medlar, Jacques Renault, Get Down Edits, Marcel Vogel, Ron Basejam, Art Of Tones, Luxxury, Alkalino, Eddie C, Faze Action, Dicky Trisco, The Revenge, Mr. Mendel, Alexander Nut, Ray Mang, Kon, Luke Solomon, Melvo Baptiste, Dr. Packer...

It's our first full show of 2023 and we are delighted to welcome Canadian DJ's, producers and label boses, The Patchouli Brothers to the platform who have delivered us a stellar guest-mix for hour 2.

With a residency at Beam Me Up in Toronto and Montreal, the guys have come a long way from throwing their first parties at an Albanian dive bar in the East End of Toronto and have gone onto grace the decks with legends such as Dave Lee, John Morales and Horse Meat Disco.

Their production talent has seen them have releases on labels such as Re-Loved, GAMM Enterprises, Whiskey Disco and Basic Fingers as well as their own Dodo Records imprint. They’ve also had vinyl releases on the likes of Pleasure Of Love, and equally as impressive is their remixes and edits that have featured on heavyweight labels such as Nervous and Defected.
