We welcome Matias Ezequiel Rubino, better known as Zek (AR), for the 119th edition of the Deep in Mix series.

Hailing from Tucumán, Argentina, Zek’s journey into music began long before he set foot in a DJ booth. At the age of seven, he took up piano lessons, before expanding his repertoire to guitar, bass, and drums. His teenage years were spent fueling the pulse of local rock and metal bands, an era that sharpened his rhythmic instincts and instilled a deep love for performance. Yet it was on the dancefloors of clubs like Pollock and La Boite where the spark of electronic music truly ignited, guided by the mesmerising sets of Guy J, Jimmy Van M, and Nick Muir, whose music opened a new horizon.

By 2017, Zek had formally embarked on his DJ and production journey, studying under Gustavo Filgueira and Federico Monachesi. His debut EP 'Attractor' on Balkan Connection South America marked the beginning of a journey that soon unfolded across esteemed imprints such as PHW Elements, Massive Harmony, and Inti Rhythms. With his latest release, 'Blazar EP', Zek reveals two contrasting shades of his progressive house identity, “Blazar” burning with raw intensity, while “Valve” flows with deeper, groove-driven warmth. Now preparing his next EP for release in late 2025, he continues to sculpt a sound that is both unmistakably his own and in constant evolution.

On stage, Zek has become a fixture in Tucumán’s underground circuit, crafting immersive journeys layered with groove, depth, and emotional charge. Among his most memorable moments are sharing the booth with Patrice Bäumel in a special b2b alongside Fer Torti, and warming up for Jonas Saalbach at La Boite- nights that reflect both his local impact and his growing resonance within the wider progressive community.

Zek draws inspiration from a lineage of visionaries like Hernan Cattaneo, Kasper Koman, Nick Muir, Jamie Stevens, and Sebastian Busto, artists who inspire the balance of precision and emotion that defines his sound. His sets lean into progressive house, driven by hypnotic percussion, rolling basslines, and soaring melodies, while weaving in touches of deep, melodic, and organic house. He likes to replicate a nightclub's atmosphere through his mixes, crafting a living, breathing experience for the listener. In this mix, Zek captures exactly the same—a progressive voyage infused with hints of organic and melodic touches, balancing depth with intimacy. It is a tribute to his journey from childhood instruments to club atmospheres, from Tucumán’s local stages to the boundless possibilities ahead. Drift in and enjoy!

We welcome Toronto-based producer and DJ Faraz Rizvi, known by his moniker Rfaraz, for the 120th edition of the Deep in Mix series. 

Originally from Calcutta, India, Faraz’s musical journey has been a story of constant reinvention, what he fondly calls a “Renaissance.” His earliest years were defined by the strings of a guitar, channelling the energy of rock, funk, and metal. Over time, curiosity led him into the world of sampling, where he crafted soulful Lo-Fi hip-hop beats that still echo his deep-rooted passion for experimentation. Yet it was within the boundless expanse of House music that he finally found his creative haven, converging rhythm and emotions in seamless harmony.

Over the past five years, Rfaraz has shaped an identity that blends the introspective warmth of Deep House with the forward momentum of Progressive House. His sets flow like cinematic narratives, guided by layered percussion, evolving grooves, and luminous melodies that tell a story without words. Whether behind the decks or in the studio, he seeks to create an euphoric auditory experience for the listeners, teleporting them through states of reflection, motion, and release.

Rfaraz’s catalogue includes releases on respected imprints such as 3rd Avenue, Bekool Lounge, Future Avenue, and Be Adult Music, with standout tracks like Balearic Bliss, Ruminate, and Morning Sun showcasing his refined melodic sensibility. His latest offering, 'El Mar' EP on Spanish imprint 'Personal Belongings', continues this thread of emotional storytelling through sound. Comprised of two laid-back Deep House cuts, Del Mar and Blue Horizon, the EP evokes the nostalgia of sun-drenched coasts and tranquil horizons.

On stage, Rfaraz has carved his space in Toronto’s thriving underground scene, performing at beloved venues such as Insomnia, Tapestry, Joe Bird, and Paradise Grapevine. Influenced by artists like NTO, Armen Miran, Sebastien Léger, Sasha, and Chaos in the CBD, Rfaraz channels their spirit of emotional precision while crafting a distinctly personal sound. In this mix, he captures that same sensibility and a soundtrack for the shifting seasons. Beginning with the warmth of summer, moving through the introspection of fall, and culminating in the invigorating energy of winter, this mix is a story of transformation, of sound, emotion, and rebirth.
