Pugilist steps up on Trule with a four track EP of sound system club heaters across various styles and BPMs. From the broken UK garage of the title track, the crunching breaks of Untitled with ILK, the dubwise Junglism of Adversity with Tamen, and the techno dancehall variation of Portal. Something for all the dancers.

This track is a first-rate example of the power of the internet and collaboration. Hannah White, an Events Management student at BIMM Bristol, posted on a university forum looking for some versatile Hip-Hop producers for a potential collab. Unfortunately, the response wasn’t exactly substantial and only a few producers answered the call. However, one such producer was Lewis Aung, an enthusiastic Hip-Hop producer who, thanks to the Music Production course he was taking, had an affinity for vocal production and smooth beats. The two teamed up sending demo’s back and forth for a few months before finally deciding to meet in the university’s recording studio, where the track ‘Babypink’ was conceived.
The track is an amalgamation of Contemporary R&B with a ‘Lo-fi’ aesthetic. The ethereal synths and drunken Hip-Hop percussion set a beautifully warped backdrop for the witty and playful lyricism of Hannah White; who’s dreamy vocal envelops the track with a soothing aura, akin to artists like IAMDDB, Greentea Peng and Pip Millett.

One of the UK's freshest emerging dance music labels, responsible for stalwart releases from Special Request and Nightwave, return for their 19th release.

The succinct beats of Pugilist have perked the ears of labels like Whities, 3024 and Trule to name but a few. And having previously featured on volume one of the label's new 'EleVAte' compilation series, among artists like Otik, Appleblim and Commix, he returns to the imprint for his first, full four-tracker; 'Siphon'.

The title track, Siphon, blasts through with authentic jungle chops, scattered together asymmetrically like a beautiful chaotic tapestry.

'Regrowth' is a swung garage stepper, jammed live on a 909 with earthquaking low-end frequencies that warmingly morph from underneath.

On remix duties of 'Siphon', is no other than Lobster Theremin alumni, Coco Bryce. With surreal, microprocessing of the heavyweight blows from the original, he also resamples time-stretched speech samples to devastating effect.

'Nightshade' closes out the record with its steadfast amen rinse-out and pokey 808 subs, concluding one of the most forward-thinking and new-school jungle records for the label, all the while serving as an exemplary ode to the old-school.
