Biography: David 9 Lunas

Living in the UK from four years old, David a Trinidadian, has been mesmerizing audiences up and down the country . 
Having sat on and broken his violin at 5 and loosing the clarinet on a Tottenham bus at age 8 the guitar was the instrument of choice at 10, that never left his side apart from when as punishment for not studying his father broke the guitar in the garden with an axe! This did not stop David; he acquired another guitar and continued.

His maternal Aunt Daisy Voisin toured and recorded in the early 60’s throughout Trinidad & Tobago in a Perang orchestra  (http://youtu.be/0QrfieDZgA4 ) and (playing guitar) became known as “The Mother of Parang “She was explosive, vivacious and tempestuous. She enjoyed every moment on stage. (Clearly David inherited this).
His Father constantly sang and mimicked Harry Belafonte and Nat King Cole around the house and thus his Aunt Daisy and Father Angelo has had a great influence on David musically. 
Armed with a diet of poets and songsmiths from Arthur Rimbaud and George Orwell to Elliott Smith and Jeff Buckley , David developed into something distinctively original and singularly identifiable.

Specialising in slide and fingerpicking David’s style is both fluid and forcefully rhythmical with powerful vocal that ranges from lush to gravelly.
In 1990, David charted at No1 in Ireland with band No Sweat, as their lead guitar player/song writer. Managed by Def. Leppard’s Joe Elliott. 
David recorded and toured extensively in the US and the UK on the back of No Sweat’s debut album recorded by Super Producer Keith Olsen (White Snake, Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac). 

No Sweat dissolved so David was invited to join B.L.O.W a London trip-rock band made from the ashes of the Scarborough boy rock band Little Angels after they had heard him sing two year previously!

B.L.O.W sold well with their album “Pigs” with David as front man in the summer of 1995 that culminating in an MTV interview and acoustic performance that was reviewed favorably by London’s major music magazine, Kerrang amongst others.
B.L.O.W parted when drummer Mark Rich left to join the newly formed Skunk Anansie 
David’s solo acoustic career began and he accommodated a more punk-folk vision as the solo artist :    David 9 Lunas.

Now out of contract with Warner’s and Sony, David 9 Lunas has been honing his craft, playing for 6 hours a day, writing and gathering material and performing extensively throughout the UK and Europe. 
In June 2014 David 9 Lunas first solo album, Rain Water and Wine became available

At the 1987 WEA sales meeting in Miami, Elektra Chairman/CEO Bob Krasnow introduced his newest find, a young African-American singer/songwriter named Tracy Chapman. The Cleveland-born folksinger – who would have fit perfectly on Jac Holzman’s early Elektra roster – stood at the podium, alone with her guitar, and sang emotionally resonant songs with provocative titles like “Talkin’ Bout a Revolution.” Those assembled were blown away by Chapman’s passion and talent, but mainstream commercial potential? Not so much.

Krasnow, on the other hand, heard in Chapman an authentically original voice and personality, fresh and distinct from the current music scene. By the time the two returned to the annual WEA gathering the following August, Chapman’s self-titled Elektra debut album had proven an unlikely #1 phenomenon on the Billboard 200, highlighted by the top 10 pop hit, “Fast Car.” Ultimately certified six-times platinum by the RIAA, Tracy Chapman also earned Chapman her first two Grammy Awards, for “Best Contemporary Folk Album” and “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.”

The album should have been impossible to follow, but 1989’s Crossroads proved an inspired, platinum-certified second act. Matters of the Heart was released in 1992, followed three years later by New Beginning, featuring the platinum-certified single, “Give Me One Reason,” a top 3 hit on Billboard’s “Hot 100” and 1996 Grammy Award winner for “Best Rock Song.”

Two further Elektra releases followed before Chapman made her Atlantic Records debut with 2007’s Where You Live. Hailed as being among the most powerful works of her career, the acclaimed collection fully ratified Tracy Chapman’s continuing status as pop’s preeminent folk voice.

Sam Garrett is an English Singer-songwriter whose music highlights his spiritual journey exploring Eastern Philosophy, Meditation, Yoga and Rastafari Wisdom. Lyrically soulful and devotionally talented, Sam’s music uplifts enlivens and inspires the hearts and souls of people all over the world.


With a skillful combination of vocals and guitar, he lifts the mood with reggae riffs such as ‘Lost In the Moment’ and soothes our busy minds with the soft tones of ‘Higher Than the Mountains,’ offering a unique journey and depth that is rare to experience.

During the pandemic Sam connected to Rastafari wisdom and livity, a connection that has always had a deep place in Sam’s heart. Whilst in lockdown Sam started to feel a pull towards the teachings and example of Haile Selassie and the spirit of Rastafari, which gave solace and comfort during these difficult times. 

Songs started to come through and an album was taking shape inspired by a call for deeper introspection and unity in a time of separation and division.

Sam was inspired by the album ‘Back to the Roots’ by Paul Izak and so after reconnecting online, Sam made his way to Oahu to record the forthcoming ‘Forward to Zion’ album which is set for release in 2023. Sam is looking forward to setting out on the road to share his heart songs, love and wisdom with the world.

Growing up in a musical family, Sam’s father would play a diverse range of records from artists such as Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, and Stevie Wonder. In Sam’s most formative years, his father took him to all different kinds of concerts on a regular basis. Sam was deeply inspired by his eclectic exposure to music and curious about the creative path of artistry. By the age of 12, Sam had formed his first band and  went on to play in the UK scene for some years before going solo. 

Sam would spend a lot of time writing songs immersed in the rich nature surrounding his family’s home. From this chapter of his life, he released his first EP ‘Be Easy’ in 2014.

Sam would eventually come to meet his spiritual teacher, Mooji Baba, in Portugal. Meeting and deeply connecting with Mooji was an incredibly impactful part of Sam’s path. While living and studying at Mooji’s ashram ‘Monte Sahaja’, Sam would often partake in the contemplative practice of Satsang as one of the attending musicians.

The 2019 single “Light of Your Grace” and 2021 album “Root Down Deep” co-created with fellow spiritual sojourner Mollie Monedoza was born from this chapter, and after experiencing the effervescence of life in Portugal, Sam decided to move there. Now, he spends his free time in between tour dates etc. sipping in the sweet nectar of gratitude, living a life of simplicity and stillness near ‘Monte Sahaja’.

Mooji’s teachings continue to have a profound effect on Sam’s life, which can be found woven throughout the message and essence of his music. Sam’s music is a reflection of his life’s journey thus far, and as his life continues to unfold, his eclectic library of inspirited sounds continue to expand.

Combining catchy boot-stompin tunes with a lively and fun onstage energy, Jaime April and Jason Moon make up the Liverpool-based duo APRIL MOON. Hailing from the vast prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada, the pair fell in love first with each other and then with the UK while on tour with a previous band, and when the group fell apart they decided to explore the UK’s vibrant music scene on a more permanent basis. 

Described by 'New Sound Generation' as "the most sunshine-filled performance I think I’ve ever seen!", APRIL MOON's live show is a vibrant twangfest with Fleetwood Mac style harmonies, a jangly acoustic guitar, a blistering Telecaster, and a driving beat provided by Jaime's foot stomping on kick drum made from an old suitcase.   

APRIL MOON call their genre Canadiana - think Americana, but with a big helping of northern charm that oozes through their style of storytelling and lyrics, creating a vivid world that covers everything from love, scandal and divorce to the hardships of growing up on the prairies, living in an abandoned brewery and cow autopsies.

Kentucky-born artist Chris Stapleton is an 8x Grammy, 15x CMA and 15x ACM Award-winner and one of the country’s most respected and beloved musicians. In the past year, he’s been named Entertainer of the Year at the 58th ACM Awards—resulting in the prestigious ACM Triple Crown Award—and Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2022 CMA Awards—his sixth time earning the award, setting the record for most wins ever in the category.
