Hailing from Belfast and now rooted in Berlin, AOIFE navigates the pulsating heart of Europe's electronic music scene. With a background spanning DJing, event promotion, international publicity, and label management, she quietly solidifies her position as a respected figure in the realm of dance music. AOIFE's DJ sets are a testament to her uncompromising style, skilfully curating raw, dark, driving, and hypnotic elements; her versatility extends to a love for techno, breaks, electro, EBM, and house inspired by luminaries such as Jeff Mills, Dasha Rush & Blawan. From her beginnings & notable appearances on platforms like Rinse FM and HOR, AOIFE has consistently evolved. She has played at renowned institutions such as Tresor, Berlin, Khidi Club, Tbilisi, Amsterdam Dance Event and, Fold in London, while also securing a residency with Berlin’s Disconnekt. Aside from DJing, AOIFE has been focusing her purpose on production with forthcoming releases on the horizon. "We always put minorities to the front." The Mala Junta cofounder and affiliate talk about prioritising femme queer ravers, the value of local party crews and not taking themselves too seriously.

Friends and colleagues Hyperaktivist and Yazzus share one important value: putting marginalised folks to the front. The Venezuelan and Ghana-via-London artists, respectively, met in Berlin not long after Yazzus went to the Berlin-based Mala Junta party, a collective co-founded by Hyperaktivist, DJ Tool and door selector Nyaam Hassany. Yazzus was asked to be a party resident and has collaborated with the crew extensively, playing their shows and helping curate lineups ever since. 

In this <i>RA</i> Exchange with Berlin DJ and journalist Juba, the two talk about their shared passion for better representation on party lineups and what authentic diversity means in a climate that often privileges checking boxes and meeting quotas. They also talk about their solo endeavours, their trajectories into dance music and their shared passion for nurturing the growth of homegrown parties and scenes. Spirite is a Montreal-born and Brussels-based artist. She is a resident dj and member of Not Your Techno, a platform promoting more diversity within the electronic music scene and the co-founder of Double Double together with Melissa Juice, a DJ duo and radio show fostering connections between Canadian and Belgian artists hosted on the Brussels’s queer and feminist Radio Vacarme. Both in her recorded and live sets, she likes to create unexpected connections between songs from different periods and genres to bring the listener on a unique sonic journey each time she steps behind the decks.
