In Act I, the band found flow.

they start to find something else.

Riffs passed hand to hand—
campfires, basements,

Nobody wondered who played first...

Then software, spitting out every note.

the melodies returned.

What we call “original”...
might just be what we’ve forgotten we borrowed.

Looking back, I see it now, and yeah, I should have known.
Just how much I’d miss you in those days since you’ve been gone.
It’s a poor excuse, I know. I never gave it that much   thought.
 If I could go back, you know I’m not sure that I would.
Even if I tried, I’m not sure it would do much good.
You see, I wasn't one to study - I never learned my lessons well.
I kept believing in forever, but forever fell.

I was certain that I had it all under control.
Never realizing that a big piece of my soul
Was floating away, disappearing right before my very eyes.
 I assumed that things would always work out just the same.
I consumed it all, and I accept all of the blame. 
They told me more than once, you know just how time flies.
But watching it in real-time, cuts it down to size.
It’s hard for me to watch, as the young me dies.

There’s not enough forever, and I think that I know why.
Everybody wants it, so it’s in such short supply.
And so there’s not enough built up to go around even once.
So, instead of giving all to some, and some are left with none.
All of us are limited in trips around the    sun.
The ones that slip away, you have no hope of getting back.
So, hear me when I say, don’t let it get out of whack.
You might as well be living ‘em good. That’s a fact.
