Pt 1. of this month’s LiT MiX double feature on Vancouver’s Audio Social crew comes via Lil Cis. This set showcases her love of house music, hypnotizing our hips through waves of deep rave rhythms. 

Shuffling shakers, congas and wood blocks create an organic Afro-Latin percussive momentum, within progressive techy synth sweeps and kicks for a very modern global club vibe. 

Vocals range from folk to woke including a couple tracks from Columbian diva Martina Camargo, and Missy Elliot in the same set, for a mix that is truly muy caliente.  

A relative newcomer to DJing, Lil Cis has quickly proven her versatile tastes and skills mixing between untz untz and wub wub realms of house and dubstep. As a co-founder of @goodnightout_vancouver she works to improve safety and promote consent culture in the nightlife community. 

With @audiosocialvancouver Lil Cis puts her event planning skills to work organizing well-curated live shows, livestreams and a mix series alongside crew-mates @thujadubs, @destratavan (LiT MiX 031) and @handsometiger (LiT MiX 004).

Pt. 2 of this month’s LiT MiX double feature on Vancouver’s Audio Social crew features emerging producer/DJ/promoter Destrata. A brewer by day, Destrata is sure to make the dancefloor bubble by night! 

Chugging through bouncy syncopated mutations of leftfield UK Bass music and Afro-Latin infused techno, this genre-blurring set includes his own original tracks amidst aesthetically adjacent established and emerging producers. 

Having released his debut E.P. on Denmark’s Indexlife in 2021, and a track on mentor Martyn’s 3024 label, Destrata’s first release of 2022 is with partner Garneau as the dynamic electro breaks duo Energy Boyz, whose E.P. “Energize” is out this week on Finland’s Tob Billin’ Label. After catching his performance at Bass Coast Festival in 2018, Vancouver, BC based producer/DJ Leland River has quickly become one of our favorite selectors on the West Coast. His ear is impeccable, especially for vibey 140 bpm tunes that span from grime and rap to dubstep, club music, and downtempo, and his productions are top-notch to boot. A truly remarkable skill as a DJ is to take a collection of relatively low-energy tracks and weave them together into an exciting journey that flows smoothly and keeps the listener engaged, and that’s exactly what Leland does with his mixes. Once again, British Columbia has blessed us with another talented artist with a knack for high quality blends and unique selections and today, we’re proud to present BnC Mix 041: Leland River.
