My set from my first official gig, opening for truth.
It was a real honor doing this, I have so much respect for Truth as a producer and performer and to have one of his gigs be my first will forever be a moment of pride for me.
That coupled with the rest of the line up, filled with such amazing local talent, the incredible ghost sound system and in a venue that is my second home, nothing could have made it better.

The mix itself, I'm mostly happy with, the last quarter is a but choppy because I redid it on the day but I'm pleased with the rest, specially the first 30 minutes, that really encompasses where I'm at and want to be at sound wise.

Hopefully gonna be back at a semi regular upload rate again to keep me practicing and developing, got a few tracks left over from this one that went unused and ready to drop some higher bpm at some point to, watch this space.

This is the live recording from the night so the beginning and end are a bit abrupt due to me just having to cut my section out from the recording of the entire night.

Feeling really happy with this one, got to play some songs I'd be dying to really roll out on a big sound system and had such a blast throughout the rest of the night.

Set I played as a Wild Card entry for the first NZ based Your Shot competition, I didn't place at the end of it but I still had a blast, had lots of positive responses to my set as well which was really lovely.

I like to approach sets like it's telling a story and for how I play, it's hard to tell a complete story in 25 minutes but I'm pretty happy with what I managed to do, I do wish I'd have had more free time to maybe play around with it all a bit more but, for what it is and the time I had, I'm proud of the end result.

A year ago I got to play a intimate little festival and roll out a set that was quite special to me.

My life had been going through some big changes and I was definitely having a lot of feelings about a lot of things then Megumi Hope dropped and it just became the music that I channeled my feelings through and kicked off the inspiration for this set.

The Closet Kiwiburn Fundraiser

I had the privilege to play music during the effigy burn in Raglan and this is the set I put together for it.

I tried to theme the tone to follow a death and rebirth feeling punctuated throughout with songs that in themselves referenced cycles, rebirth, death and life but also (to my ear) carried beats and patterns and rhythms that had the energy of crackling and billowing flames. I really wanted to make sure what I was bringing was there to enhance the moments instead of take attention away.

I think, as I ever do with all sets, there are songs I'd change if I had more time with it but that's part of all this and fits the theme for elements of this set will be reborn anew in future ones.

Thank you Raglan for hosting me and letting me be apart of the experience there, it was definitely special.

A play around with some sounds and textures I've been enjoying in the 140 bpm realm, it's a little bit what I played for Art and Bass and a little bit just messing around.

It's a little rough in places just from the nature of experimentation but I enjoyed doing it.

Two hours of high-energy bass house recorded live on Thursday night at The Closet! 

This set had the dance floor pumpin'. Knees were weak. Clothes were stripped. Butts were bouncing. We even made the news!

Skanky Bass House DJ Set | The Closet (Kiwiburn Festival) | 23 Jan 2025

Couple of false starts getting this up but here we are, what is the best approximation of my set that I can put together from Dimension 2025.

This is very much a best attempt as I went in with very little prep, just a bunch of tunes rammed into a playlist the week before (and some crammed in the day of my set) and then just hoping for the best, this recording is me using that same set list to try and capture at the very least, the general flow and essence of what it was in the moment.

The whole experience of this was really incredible, Dimension continues to be where I go to truly play what I love and the first festival to give me a space to do it when I was starting out. This time was elevated by getting to drive the incredible Boom Candy sound system for it as well as being trusted with what if definitely the most "prime" time slot I've ever had and to cap it off, the presence of some of my favourite producers.

To reveal behind the curtain a bit, it had been quite some time since I have had the opportunity to play a more bass focused set and I'd lost a bit of confidence which got shook more when I played a couple of sets at kiwiburn that just didn't meet my personal standard of how I want to perform. I was really anxious committing to the genre for Dimension and almost just pivoted to doing a DnB set since I've been getting booked for that a lot more recently and feeling more confident in my skills with it.

But I'm glad I stuck to it, this set might not be my most cohesive but lord it was fun and reminded me that this should be fun, I get up there to enjoy myself and share the cool music I've found. Feeling much more back in the saddle with it all and excited for when I can pull another one.
