The producer Metaform is working with Gnotes and Elemental Zazen on both of their upcoming albums, but this here's just a likkle bootlegd remix of his track "Crush" from Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, one of my favorite albums of 2008.

Kaya [aka Cat Gomez] is a French MC based in Granada (Spain) who collaborated with Gnawledge on Granada Doaba. For the anglophonos in the room, she's rappin in français until 1:38 and then reboots into espangñol for the finish.

i first saw P-Funk in 1995, and watching Micheal Hampton play the solo on Maggot Brain blew my mind. i thought, "that's what i wanna do!" and i finally got to play the song with the funk mob at the House of Blues a few years ago and it made me cry, it was such a powerful experience for me. in fact i cried every time i played or heard it, and i kept playing it with P-Funk on the road and ended up creating an arrangement of it with Double G, the mastermind of the DaKah Hip Hop Orchestra. we performed it at Disney Hall and the Hollywood Bowl before we recorded it at Capitol Records studio, where Frank Sinatra and the Beatles recorded. the recording was funded by the great activist and entertainment guru Norman Lear, who upon hearing it at Disney Hall offered to help me, no strings attached (and no pun intended). when i got to make "Place Between Places" i just knew Maggot Brain had to be on. it's been covered by Jeff Beck, Santana, Mike Watt, Buckethead, to name a few guitar heroes, but i feel it in my way, and i'm so glad i finally get to share it on this record.

Les Sourdes Oreilles (The Deaf Ears), is the next generation analog cinematic music from the 21 century. Following the sound of 70's cinematic jazz funk, this first 300 X 12" from Cosmic Analog Ensemble is the new My Bags emergency hammer glass breaker. 

Designed like a 70's movie soundtrack Graal, with the perfect hijacking artwork of Jerk 45, the album is a future now crate digging target. Built like a narrative scenario, scene after scene, each composition deploys his uniqueness, from the explosives intense actions of "Camille 3000", moments of suspence with "Sol Sur Sol" to running chase on "En Faction" and flying panoramic views of "Point De Bascule"... the compositions are depicting a rich range of situations, moods and intrigue. 

Brilliantly composed, produced and interprated by Charif Megarbane, playing himself all instruments, track after track, each song is a one man piece of art. 
Chiseled drum breaks, evocative bass and stirring melodies are a part of a bigger plan, sprinkled with subtle sound effects. 

"Les Sourdes Oreilles" is a long artisanal goldsmith work, cooking occidental classic jazz funk tradition into an afro oriental kitchen. It's what make this release so awesome, unique and necessary to our deaf ears. 

This is a heavy rare groove material. 
As you can imagine looking to the cover, this is all about legendary cinematic jazz funk, in the continuum of US, italian and french composers of the 70's like François de Roubaix, Piero Piccioni, David Axelrod, Piero Umiliani, Galt Mcdermot, Alain Goraguer, Janko Nilovic... 

The red translucid vinyl comes with a A2 (59,4x42cm) poster dedicated to the artwork and its autor Jerk 45. A nice way to give an extra life to a beatutifull cover. And it will be like this for all the next records to come!

In a unique world premiere Efterklang and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra conducted by Matthew Coorey performed the songs from Piramida - Efterklang´s 4th album - live in Sydney Opera House for the VIVID Live Festival 2012.

Piramida will be released in it´s studio album version on September 24th on 4AD
and Efterklang will go on tour with The Piramida Concert and perform with orchestras in Europe and NYC fall winter 2012.
