Melting Point Universe is a rock band fusing guitar and bass with electronic drums,samples,and other effects.Members are Captain David Smith:guitar,vocals,songwriting;Steve Smith:drum programs,samples and effects;and MHB bass and production on recordings.Lyrics and chord arrangements by Dave.Steve and MHB write their parts and we share song arrangments.It's a band with roots in the past but with ears to the future,covering a range of original tunes with vocals and instrumentals.Subject matters range from optimism,hope,alienation,renewal,with a dose of reality and perspectives. Also I've added older, original recordings with info about some of the people we played with over the early years. Added also, are early solo versions of later MELTING POINT songs. There are also other solo tunes that are my personal projects. It's all under the MPU banner and there's a variety of sounds. Check out the list and pick a tune at random and you may find something you like.

Bio
In 2007 at age 63 Montrealer Peter Wheeler bought his first guitar. He then went to amazon.com and purchased a book called “How To Play The Guitar for Dummies”. Since then he hasn’t looked back. 

Sometimes serious - sometimes humorous Wheeler’s music seeks to re-capture the Classic Vibes  from the 70’s & 80’s. To best describe his music imagine Bob Dylan & The Doors meet The Clash & Leonard Cohen at the Hotel California & share a bottle of wine with Tarantino. Peter Wheeler is a poet - focusing all his energies into creating musical canvases to express his personal vision of the world surrounding him. 

For several years Peter was part of the local bar scene in the Greater Montreal area.  He performed as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for The Rock Roulette Band. His experiences giving live performances and continually improving his guitar playing has truly shown that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Today Peter continues to pursue his passion for The Arts by doing portraits of friends, family and people he greatly admires. In 2021 he became a re-born again environmentalist and his songwriting is now focused on increasing awareness of the climatic challenge facing the planet.

McHugh and McClerking opened their doors to the industry in late 2010. Gary McClerking had been performing for many years in the Chicago night scene & went on a stage tour with Grammy winning artist Chaka Khan. In 2014 he went on to win "The Voice" Chicago trials at the Rosemont Theatre. His family is also very well known in the Windy City for their musical talents & contributions. His sons and family in St. Louis and Melrose Park all are backing his constant journey.

Steven J. McHugh aka Steve J the Songwriter began writing poetry and hip hop back in the Tupac/MC Hammer era during the early 90's. Advised by his teachers & peers he quickly learned how to structure his verses like songs. He has written and produced over 150 songs since and over 1000 beats via Acid Pro/Pro Tools Media. Supported by family and friends Steve is ready to breathe fire & bring new HIT SONGS to life. Steve & Gary believe each song carries a message & offers a meaning you can truly relate to. Steve owes much of his talent to the superior artistry of Eminem, Gary offers his honors in tribute of Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke!

Together and with family behind them Gary and Steve (with the help of their featuring artists) are releasing all of their best creations to the public with "Hear Me Pray," "Slow Down," "1 Nite in Hollywood" & "Outnumbered" leading the way!
