CLR Podcast 258 – DJ Red

It is Monday the 3rd of February 2014 and we have DJ Red for the first time on the CLR Podcast. Born and raised in Rome, Italy, Simona Calvani p.k.a. DJ Red has been a resident for the Ultrabeat nights at Rome´s most important dance venue Goa club for the last 13 years. In 2012 she joined the BPitch Control artist roster and released her first record “Eyes Are Blind” on the BPitch Control label. Her mantra “creation is the source of energy” underpins the importance of the relationship between artist and public. Her innovative DJ style is characterized by Techno-Dub influences, dark and deep sounds. C'est grâce au collectif M.A.D Brains qu'il crée en 2013 avec Rod Roy, qu'il trouve sa place aux platines. Par ailleurs, il portera toujours de l'importance au développement de la scène locale grâce à de nombreux projets événementiels dont il est à l’initiative.

Bruderschaaft est un live hardware et modulaire proposé par Weiser et Nico. B.

Tous deux membres du collectif MAD Brains et également co-fondateurs du label SFrecords, ils ont commencé à s'initier au live machine et modulaire au même moment et décidé de former un live techno à leur image : percutant, atmosphérique et mental.
Le live Bruderschaaft se caractérise donc par une techno texturée et brute proposant un set up full hardware évoluant au gré de leurs humeurs, leur permettant d'interagir avec le public et de proposer à chaque prestation un live unique.

Vegim Hashimi, known professionally as Vegim, is a techno producer, dj and label owner from Pristina, Kosovo. From a young age, he was drawn to the sounds of electronic music and had already begun his professional music career 25 years ago. Vegim quickly established himself as a talented and innovative performer. Over the years, Vegim has released countless tracks and EPs on many of the world's top techno labels, including: Clergy, Planet Rhythm, TMM Records. His music is characterized by its driving, percussive rhythms, futuristic soundscapes, and relentless hypnotized energy. Throughout his career, Vegim has also been an outspoken advocate for Techno music in his home country of Kosovo. Today, Vegim is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative techno producers, and his influence on the global techno scene is undeniable and there is no doubt that he will continue to push the boundaries for years to come.

Lucho

Born in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela, Lucho’s musical roots are rich with Caribbean rhythms and percussion.

Since moving to Barcelona in 2019, he has developed a sound that blends techno with new forms of musical expression. 

His music, focused on percussion, spirituality and tribal sounds, has been released on labels like Synergie, Subhills, ASW, RAVEU, Phaaser, and Arhythmic Records among other’s.

In addition to his production work, Lucho has made a name for himself in Barcelona’s nightlife, playing at venues such as The Garage Of The Bass Valley, City
Hall, M7, Sala Upload, KRNL Club, and Imagine Café Bar in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Long time friend and studio partner of Moritz von Oswald, Carl Craig provides a new take on “Transport”. Extending and stripping the original sequence to its bone, the illustrious Planet E president and illustrious Detroit proponent also summons a stepping drum sequence and a swaying array of moving delays. This 12“ edit is cut on the A-side.

The full version of Carl Craig’s remix clocks just above 20 minutes and is available digitally. Both are available to anyone who purchases the record, through the enclosed download card.

On the flip, DJ Deep & Roman Poncet rework Carl Craig’s remix, adding their signature grooves and myriad of tough drums, to full effect.
