Born in Hackney, London, in 1956, Orbit has been writing, producing and arranging music for four decades. With almost 1,200 credits to his name on Discogs, his vast and varied body of work spans classical, pop and electronic. He produced for some of pop music's most seminal artists—Madonna, All Saints, Blur, Robbie Williams, Pink—as well as being, as his interviewer Matt McDermott explains, "one of the most prolific electronic music remixers of the '90s." He released 11 solo albums and seven collaborative albums—as part of Torch Song, Strange Cargo and Bassomatic—and founded Guerilla Studios in the '80s, working with artists like Cabaret Voltaire and Gary Numan. In 1995, Orbit released the Pieces In A Modern Style LP, which paved the way for musicians like Nils Frahm and Jon Hopkins, who bring together classical arrangements with electronic production in revelatory ways. 

The journalist Kate Hutchinson described Orbit as "the Mark Ronson or Jack Antonoff of his day." But as this conversation with RA highlights, Orbit is once again enjoying his day. Having, in his own words, "spent 20 years becoming disengaged," he has just put out his first solo release in seven years—the Sunbeam EP on Anjunadeep—and things are feeling good. "I know how to have fun," he said. 

In conversation with McDermott, Orbit shares stories about his fascinating career, how to make a great record, working with Madonna and how to stay relevant in a fickle industry.

Comme chaque premier samedi du mois, Le Sucre est à l’antenne pour présenter un bout de sa programmation.

La première heure est une invitation au cœur de la résidence de Warum avec le duo Dresden composé de Manfredas & Ivan Smagghe. On se donne rendez-vous le 16 mars pour un voyage percussif et électronique aux influences psychédéliques et notes obscures, teinté de post-punk et new wave synthétique. Dès 22:00 Pedro Bertho prend la suite en nous partageant ses dernières trouvailles vinyles, et quelques-unes de ses productions unreleased. Une parfaite mise en bouche de sa release party du 09 mars, à l’occasion de la sortie de son album Mêlé. On y croisera le chemin du groupe Fango Live Band, un projet fusionnant guitare, batterie, basse, et musiques électroniques, et la DJ parisienne IAMBP.

Founder of Rotterdam's Pinkman records alongside its three offshoots Mindri, Broken Dreams and Charlois, he also ran a beloved record store at the beating heart of Rotterdam’s creative district, and co-founded Rotterdam's online radio Operator. What his work has in common is its ability to form a community out of a disparate group of outsiders with bravado. As a DJ, Marsman wants to make you dance with your head held high. His sound evokes a retro-futuristic euphoria. Nostalgic without being stuck in the past, it fosters the return of songs to the club; of sex, warmth and basslines to the dancefloor. Not confined to any one genre, expect to hear some of the best outsider sounds and infectious tracks from across wave, body, italo and well beyond. I

It was in 2013 that Parisian DJ Minor Player fell in love with techno and its world, after an evening spent in the famous Danish club Culture Box. Since then, she has continued to increase her knowledge of techno music. It is therefore as a true enthusiast of the New Wave movement and its sub-genres that Minor Player quickly developed an appetite for EBM and its artists, such as Mind / Matter, XTR Human, OTHR, Sarin or Reka. Minor Player intends to transport her audience into the post-industrial era of the 80s whose cold and metallic, but incredibly catchy sounds transport us into an ode to letting-go in each of her sets. Their captivating complexity led her to join the Atrium collective. Minor Player also offers a residency on Line Out Radio dedicated to her favorite genre and the artists who inspire her on this scene.
