To me is a pretty consistent tenseness that I don't enjoy. But obviously lots of people liked it, judging from the comments.

It's hard to find a good balance of "unusualness" and "pop" music to appeal to lame synthpop guys like me, but i think you nailed it with this one. I think it's the rhythmus part which i can grasp on while the weird part with the detuned strings are playing. Or I'm just opening up for more "non-pop" music :P

Great atmosphere ! I love that dissonant-but-not-too-much wash you've got going.  You make it sound deceptively easy.

I modified Jasinski's cymbal and a couple of Bowman's snares. I used a bit of Bowman's box guitar and TNS' (TheNeverScene) guitar. I used a lot of a delay tuned guitar. IV! showed me how to tune it with one patch. But because it has a glide I had to make it one note per instance and then use JS note filter. That's extreme patch borrowing for me. Finally NeverBeenInARiot mentioned the Reaverb "trick" that is used on the cymbal. So a big thanks to those OSCers.

Beyond Expectations

This is my entry "New Year" for the 190th edition of the KVR One Synth Challenge. All sounds were generated using the Vital plugin with a mix of free, paid and included effects in Ableton Live 11.
I hope you enjoy it and feel free to offer any comments on how I might improve it if I do a remix for a wider release.
