Asāvāri is the North Indian raga performed in the late morning hours, which evokes the moods for anguish, love and melancholy.

I have used textile pattern, based on various repetitions, which could be related to time perception in Indian cosmology. 

According to Indian philosophical tradition, time is cyclical, but not in terms of different Western interpretations. Indian cyclic time doesn’t involve a mechanical repetition of particular. Even cycles are the same in type, but they are not the same in detail.

In order to achieve it, each performer has been encouraged to improvise by changing some details within the framework of the cyclical time. Music unfolds in a process of continuous development and it constantly renewed in performance of cycle inevitably follows cycle.

The World Premiere was performed by Ensemble I’Itineraire: Julie Brunet-Jailly, (flute), Juliette Adam (clarinet), Lucia Peralta (viola) and Manasonics: Benoit Delbecq (piano) and Steve Arguelles (percussions) at Sonic Art Research Centre, on 25 November, Belfast, the Northern Ireland, in 2023.

The work was commissioned by the du Ministère de la Culture/Direction régionale des affaires culturelles d’Île-de-France in 2023.

Benítez's exploration of IDM and chillout genres introduces a delicate balance, showcasing a mastery in evoking emotions without the need for lyrics. Acid-infused moments and synthwave vibes add a futuristic allure, creating a sonata that is both contemporary and timeless.

Glitchy textures and drumstep intricacies bring an experimental undertone, challenging the listener's perception of rhythmic patterns. Hardcore influences surge through, injecting an adrenaline rush that heightens the intensity of the sonata. Electro and minimal undertones reveal meticulous craftsmanship, where every sonic element plays a pivotal role in shaping the overall auditory experience.

Psytrance and industrial tones interweave, creating a symphony that mirrors the complexity of the 'Snare Sonata.' The bass resonates with a commanding presence, providing a solid foundation for the album's progressive and synthpop elements. Jungle beats and nu-disco aesthetics infuse a lively energy, inviting listeners to join the dance within the sonata.

We live in an era of hyper-nostalgia where everything is a derivative of something from the past.  Our art, music, and film are all directly linked to our memories of the past.

Liquid Modern seeks to imbue the nostalgia of the past with the feelings of remorse and sadness that should accompany them. The raw, airy vocals and smooth electronic sounds created by this husband and wife duo of Lord Kojak and Kojette seek to bring emotion into soulless pop tunes. 



Whether it is their reimagining of classic songs or the forward thinking production of their originals, Liquid Modern will not be complacent in one genre as there is a world of musical styles to explore!

Liquid Modern has recently concentrated on creating downtempo electronic covers of 90s pop tunes and stripping away the facades of pop sensibilities to create a more accurate and sustainable view of the past.  A network of influences blend effortlessly through each and every note.
