‘Bad Thing’ casts its spells in that illusive creative chasm between techno and house as chunky, jacking beats, a palpitating bassline straight out of the Tresor playbook and iced-out toplines ensure its hypnotic allure. ‘Asteroid’ is a dizzying trip into the stars on a rocket powered by classic multi-layered hyper-fluctuating 303 and finally ‘My System’ closes on a straight techno tip where an offbeat bass tone creates latent funk and more waves of acid entwine and entangle.

Enduring, driving, tightly sprung and lean: This might be Frank Maurel’s Ovum debut but with sounds as timeless as these, it’s like he’s been on the label forever. Classic sinewy acid science like this never fails.

Synesthesia: Your own internal modular set-up rewiring to create new and unexplainable experiences and associations. Pure, concentrated and direct, each track rewires our own cognitive and sensory pathways – taking our memories and our own relationship with stark, electrified acid techno and reconnecting them to three killer new perceptions. ANG: Sneaks back with his first Ovum EP since 2009s caustic Acido explosion and, as always, hes not messing around. Neither is Russian partner-in-vibe Tripmastaz as they reveal the product of an instance collide for three frank tales of vicious, visceral analog wizardry.

Marking almost 20 years of Sneak cameos on Josh Winks label, a long-standing relationship that dates rightback to the late 90s with remixes of Sylk 130s The Reason, the Acid EP comprises two deadly pieces of dancefloor science that are the result of an intense week studio session using purely 303s, 808s and 707s.Foraging in the labels deepest signature foundations, this is all about lean, dark, electric and dangerous acid house.

"Non Intelligent Acid" fluctuates around a devilishly simple acid hook that writhes like a snake around the stripped back beats, flickering from in-your-face foreground to shadow-lurking background while flickering through the octaves. If grooves this slick and warm are non intelligent then consider us thicker than bricks.

"Even More Nasty Shit" lives up to its title with honesty and clarity. Spiky, sweaty and dizzying in its acid intensity,it rolls with rifle hi-hats, thumps with batter-ram snares and develops into a tripped out odyssey where a catlike siren wails with sense-blurring menace. Strictly 3am business; this will floor your floor.

Things continue with the closing track "Concentrate" which will take you back to the Warehouse. The vocal hook is used to perfection as the track slowly builds and builds. This is pure mental acid.

Three insane pieces of 303 craftsmanship tailored for dark nights and deep mixes, Sneak & Tripmastaz EP comes hot on the heels of Bloody Mary's "The Synesthesia Experience". Consider Wink's own "Resist" earlier this year and the low pH message for 2017 is clear: Acid never dies.

Track of the Day: Andre Crom “Chordal”

It's been a few years since MOOR last passed through the halls of Ovum. Previously spotted under a moody cloud of Brain Fog (using his full name Wouter De Moor), here he returns with four more startling slices of machine soul.

"Falkor" is a game of two halves; he Stripped version, deconstructs the elements, re-twisting their focus with the help of a snare-slapping drum arrangement and gusts of iced pads used to dramatic effect. The original version jets through the clouds on a rocket propelled by deft layers of constantly mutating synths. Acidic tendrils wagging with control over brass-like textures that constantly shift and slide, its never-ending sense is hinted at in the title. 

Elsewhere we hit total acid strategy: "Corner Mentality" wriggles with such a precision sense of tension andr elease, it's one of those tracks that creeps up behind you and hurls you into space with such subtlety you won't realise your feet have left the floor. Finally were issued with some compromising material in the form of "Kompromat". A deadly technoid dossier where the danger is heavily wrapped in an insatiably funky Detroit style wet synth loopy groove, its MOOR at his most direct, visceral and disarming.

Moorish in every sense, this isnt the first time Wouter's been on Ovum and it certainly wont be the last.

2020, a new decade Time for a little reflection, time for a spot of soul seeking, time for some personal contemplation. Or Acid Contemplation as Charlie Thorstenson likes to call it.

Continuing his elegant rise up the techno echelons, here we find the non-surfing Swede digging unfathomably deep in all possible directions on his spiritual stomping ground Ovum. It all kicks off with Acid Contemplation, an elephantine track that sets the broad field parameters thanks to its thundering kick/bass combo, subtle acid twangs and gentle piano breezes.

Its backed by two more equally forthright, widescreen messages: Distorted Chamber is a juggernaut design that captures the pure essence of techno that builds and builds until its very final throes. Unrelenting and ever-mutating with tightly weaved layers, this one is all about the momentum while the grand finale Trenger Dig is all about Charlies knack for intensity and drama. He's back. Last spotted on Ovum asking, "Where Am I?" way back in 2003, French 303 maestro, Brique Rouge patron and all-round OG David Duriez makes a long overdue return to the acid mothership with two extreme slices of late night darkness.

"Plastic Tracks" is the pinnacle of David's plastic series over the years. The ultimate compound crusher; its venomous acid spikes and crushing kicks make it a behemoth of a session that can whip up any level of untold frenzy. "Crank" brings the chaos in a different way. Bubbling and grinding over a loose rolling almost tribal groove, over the course of almost nine minutes were sucked deep inside an acid black hole and lose all sense of gravity.

Addictive, intoxicating and too much fun mix. Welcome back David!
