Unstrung Recordings is delighted to welcome Fragile X aboard for our 3rd release, with an undulating, progressive break-beat track, Farrago.

The 1st in a wave of new additions to the label, Fragile X is best known for running his multi-genre web imprint, Bricolage Collective. His eclectic stance towards music is on full show here with a song that delves between such ideas as breaks, ambient, progressive house and acid techno, with every passing sequence bringing in new tones. Unstrung loves a good tune that never quite sits still and overflows with different instruments and we are proud to showcase this stunning free-flowing track.

Label boss Loui Cleghorn is on remix duty with a more linear, slowed down interpretation. Whilst the original jumps from one platform to the next, Loui introduces the sounds together, whilst retaining the progressive aspects for his version, taking the tempo down and the mood into a less urgent realm.

The last 5 years have been something else. It's been a whirlwind of killer records, studios, projects and creativity, and parties in warehouses, clubs and castles. It's been the coming together of a tribe and a family, and it's all been over those crazy hypnotic rhythms. 

Now we're bringing you a package to celebrate the last 5 years, and to set the course for where we're going. TRIP013 contains new material alongside parts of our history. 

Acidulant brings us the fresh acid workout 'Pulse Modification', while Boom Merchant drowns us in the melting distortion of 'Malky's Sorrow'. Fragile X delivers complex breakbeat rhythms with 'Cerulean' and Cedren and Manu-l go deep with the perpetually evolving 'Absence'. New to the label, Nohow is the new project of Andrea Crestani, and he debuts with '3.0', a sprawling analogue banger. Canadian synth wizard Dark Arps joins us also, opening his account with the gritty Alt_Trx.

Two of our past recordings got the remix treatment for the occasion, with Takashi Watanabe (DJ Warp) adding a killer bite to Alexander Koning's Attend The Tension, and Dark Arps expanding on the melodies of Acidulant's Kraknak.

We've added material from Dave Seaman, Pole Folder, Sonic Union and Khen, Johnny Kaos, DJ Warp, Boom Merchant, Kaban and Di Rugerio, Deepfunk and Acidulant to deliver a comprehensive collection of psychedelic voodoo music.

You Ain't Down

The return of the Lying Cat brings both a continuation and evolution of the sounds that were showcased on the evasive felines debut EP back in 2018. That warm and grainy fuzzy feeling remains embedded in the atmosphere, as does the curious nostalgic charm that each arrangement seems to possess. 

The track structures are still unorthodox but this time they come supplemented with more depth, tone and character. There is a huge array of textures throughout 'Second Life' that are complimented by fractured patterns, moments of melodic bliss and electronic chaos that are all topped off with an exceptional aura of mystery.
