Yes, a Ray Charles cover. Yes, Scofield has done it, and John Mayer made it somewhat popular. But nothing beats good blues, and I love the riff and the harmonic changes Scofield contributed to the piece. Faith and social issues can be contentious and polarising. But for me, both combined is a marriage made in heaven. As a young songwriter I wanted to explore that, and this was one of those attempts. It is based on the ‘I Am’ sayings, and I thank you for listening.
