Note:
I've always enjoyed the Alien movies.The first, to my thinking, was the best. And I've wanted to write a song that could be used in a Sci-Fi film, something quirky and alluding to the double entendre of being eaten by a literal something or by the thoughts and anxieties or fears of something. This one fit the bill. Set to some snappy guitar parts and bass that Keith had sent to Kevin and I, wanting some direction. When we feel the energy, it all gels so quickly. I placed drums, and a vocal idea and  sent it back to him, by the time we had worked this idea over, it had grown into something quite... well...alien. What's eating you?

Wasted Life was written at a time when all of my friends seemed to have these terrible boyfriends who just didn't appreciate them and caused problem after problem for them. My lyrics combine the many different flaws of these boys. However the chorus gives perspective as at the time we were 17 years old and rarely does someone that age not simply reflect their upbringing.
This song was one of my favourite to record. I loved looping over the end parts and really enjoyed the challenge of slightly different vocals to usual.
