mcthfg's latest release for Dubmission, "When You Awake", draws on an unlikely trio of sources. A track by the band "The Band" inspired the title, while N.K Jemisin's "Broken Earth" series and Yoon Ha Lee's "Machineries of Empire" inspired the vibe.

The dystopian sci-fi influences can be heard throughout, but sadly there's not a drop of stoned country rock! Instead "When You Awake" continues on from previous releases, featuring five tracks of intricately crafted electronica, where woozy melodies weave their way round crunchy breaks and dub basslines.

If this is the future, we like it .....
