Lake Shore Drive Series | Episode 5

Described as an « artist to follow » in 2023 according to French electronic media, Dylan Dylan signed in 2022 on the English label Shall Not Fade, on which she released her first album, "Euphoria". Breaks, house, techno, acid loops… with her various releases and exciting DJ sets, she has been rising to the top of the pile of new French talents.

EPM Podcast 168 – comes from Petals in Sound (Louise Baldwin). The Liverpool-based producer and DJ has been making a name for herself in the underground house music scene for the past few years, crafting a unique sound which blends hazy, jazzy house music with deep, atmospheric electronic textures. Here we find Louise continuing her commitment to deep and atmospheric house with a mix that brings in tracks from Idan Hana, Cinthie, Bernardo Mota, Moonee, Taren Gopi, Roy Ford, Polytunnel, an exclusive from Louise’s own Petals In Sound and more.

Louise’s vast taste in music plays a huge part in the way her productions play out to the listener, as she draws influence from her love of disco, house and acid combined with guitar-focused genres such as shoegaze. She cites Daniel Avery as a big influence as well as the likes of Space Ghost and Retromigration.

Petals In Sound’s catalogue includes releases with well-respected labels such as Closer to Truth and she is a mainstay on Berlin’s Dirt Crew Recordings, having worked with a diverse roster of remixers from the likes of Bruise, Henrik Villard, Kaysoul, and Glassjaw frontman Daryl Palumbo. 

Petals In Sound’ music has gained support from Deeper Shades of House, NTS Radio, Rinse FM and the Sloth Boogie Radio Show, and her recent Dial Tone EP received critical acclaim in Chicago’s 5 magazine.

Her DJ mix for EPM includes a brand new, soon to be released Petals’ track titled ‘Furusato’ (Mole Music). This track showcases once more her attention to detail in terms of arrangement, creating depth and interest with luscious pads and intricate melodies against a backdrop of beautiful lush house textures.

As resident and promoter at Belfast’s weekly party, The Night Institute, and before that as a curator of the city’s not-quite-legal,late-night parties, Jordan has played many roles within his local scene, alongside countless hours behind the decks. This has afforded him a legitimacy that is becoming a rarity in the electronic music community, placing him at odds with the common thirst for overnight success stories.

"I've crammed in some of the energy of my Summer into this hour. The first half is a slower tempo, inspired by my debut at Pikes and the early part of the night at our parties at The Hack Club in Belfast. The second half, I take things in a more energetic direction with highlights from my Fabric set earlier in July, as well as some previews of my forthcoming releases on Permanent Vacation and Polari."
