Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, nonprofit corporation that operates a radio station and Internet news service. RFA was founded by an act of the US Congress and is operated by the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG). The RFA is supported in part by grants from the federal government of the United States of America.

Esukhia is a registered NGO dedicated to the preservation of the Tibetan language through education, language services, and research & development. As a primary repository for the Buddhist teachings, the survival of this language is imperative for scholars, translators, and Buddhists from East and West alike; our mission is bridging these communities, and our projects are developed in concert with their needs and aspirations. Finally, we firmly believe the results of all our activities should always be open-source, for the benefit of all.

Our Name :
Esukhia (ἡσυχία) is an ancient Greek term whose meaning of peace, calm, and cessation encapsulates the spirit of the Buddhist teachings. Ancient Greek was chosen to symbolize our central goal of spanning East & West, ancient & modern, and emic & etic perspectives.

About the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa
His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, is the head of the 900 year old Karma Kagyu Lineage and guide to millions of Buddhists around the world.

Born in 1985, the Karmapa resides in his temporary home at Gyuto Monastery in India after making a dramatic escape from Tibet in the year 2000.

Traveling the world, the Karmapa skillfully teaches traditional Tibetan Buddhist Dharma while also advocating topics such as environmental conservation, feminism, digitization of the Dharma, and much more.


第十七世大寶法王噶瑪巴
鄔金欽列多傑 

西元1985年6月19日，一個男孩出生在西藏，噶瑪巴轉世傳承的第十七次轉世於焉降臨。就如他的前世第十六世法王噶瑪巴於預言信上所指出的，第十七世法王噶瑪巴出生在藏東，他的母親為洛嘎（Lolaga），父親為敦珠（Döndrup）。童年的早期，法王噶瑪巴和他的家人在西藏高原環境嚴峻的偏遠一角共度著單純的牧民生活。

當他只有七歲大時，一組尋訪隊來到他家的帳篷。遵循他的前世第十六世噶瑪巴所寫預言信中的詳細指示，尋訪隊找到了年幼的噶瑪巴。確認這個孩子為噶瑪巴的鑒定工作，不僅經過大司徒仁波切、嘉察仁波切和許多其他噶瑪噶舉重要上師的查證，也獲得達賴喇嘛尊者的認證。而且中國共產黨政府也正式承認他為噶瑪巴的轉世者，這在歷史上是前所未見的。

法王隨著尋訪隊回到位於中藏的楚布寺，並在楚布寺陞座和領受他最初的出家戒。於此之後，法王便開始接受傳統上噶瑪巴應進行的學習和訓練，而且幾乎在同一時期也開始授予弟子們心靈上的指引。他的第一次公開開示是在西藏楚布寺舉行（當時他只有八歲），與會聞法的大眾超過了二萬人。但是，主要的噶瑪噶舉傳承持有者卻不被允許進入西藏將傳承的心要教法傳授給他，這種情況造成了一個難以克服的障礙，令他無法在這個世間完全履行他身為噶瑪巴的任務。

十四歲時，法王決定離開西藏去追尋自由，以扮演好他身為世界級精神領袖的角色，並履行他身為噶瑪噶舉傳承領導者應盡的責任。以乘坐吉普車、騎馬、步行和搭乘直升機等方式翻越喜瑪拉雅山，西元2000年1月5日，法王噶瑪巴抵達印度達蘭沙拉。法王在達蘭沙拉受到達賴喇嘛尊者的熱烈歡迎，自此，法王噶瑪巴也在尊者照護下享有前輩與後進間的親近關係。

在法王以難民的身分停留在印度的十年間，他已經接受了傳統的寺院訓練和哲理的教育，同時也接受個人的現代教育。法王每年在他位於達蘭沙拉的住所，接見成千上萬來自世界各地的訪客。自西元2004年起，法王開始為噶舉大祈願法會主法，這場在菩提迦耶舉行的年度冬季法會，吸引了成千上萬世界各地許多不同佛教傳承的人士前來參與盛會。

西元2008年5月，法王展開他期待已久的首度西方之旅。法王出訪美國，巡視了他位於紐約的北美法座，以及許多在他精神領導之下的佛法中心。此外，法王噶瑪巴也行遍印度各地，參與他第二故鄉的文化和宗教生活。從賽巴巴位於泰米爾納德（Sai Baba in Tamil Nadu）新寺院的開光典禮，到在加爾各達舉行的德蕾莎修女百歲冥誕紀念（Mother Teresa’s birth in Calcutta），秉持著相互尊重和包容的精神，法王會見了許多其他的精神領袖。西元2009年11月，法王受邀在印度TED大會中發表談話，成為大會成立以來最年輕的一位演說者。西元2010年1月，超過一萬兩千名觀眾出席了由法王製作並撰寫劇本的舞台劇現場演出，這齣關於密勒日巴大師生平的六幕舞台劇，完美地結合了傳統西藏歌劇和現代劇場的元素。

既是學者和禪修大師，又是畫家、詩人、作曲家、劇作家，法王噶瑪巴體現了數百年來歷代噶瑪巴含括範圍極廣的行誼。身為環保人士、電腦迷，以及經常透過網路直播進行開示的世界級精神領袖，第十七世法王噶瑪巴已經將噶瑪巴傳承的事業完全帶入了二十一世紀。
