This is a happy and fun track combining glockenspiel, piano, acoustic guitar and electric guitar to create a lively and uplifting atmosphere full of positive energy. The track consists of many sections, each with their own melodic variation. The final section of the track goes into a double-time drum groove to add a final burst of energy until the ending. This would be great for a motivational or advertising video in need of wholesome, loving and fun music.

Just messing about while I had my coffee. This is a live analogue jam. No computer, no MIDI, just pure trigger-sync'd goodness. 

For anyone interested:
Roland TR-707 triggering JUNO=6 arpeggiator, Korg Volca Bass sequence, & Pearl DRX-1 drums. I noodled over top (badly) on a Technics SX-K200. Bit-crunch distortion on the Juno courtesy of a BOSS VF-1.

This is obviously NOT a fully realized musical idea, just a bit of fun making noise. ENJOY!

Procrastination is a wonderful thing! I'm supposed to be working on an illustration project but decided to take 10 minutes and have a little live jam session with my Juno-6, 106, TR-707, and a Volca Bass. Now, back to the drawing board...

A very, very short snippet of this morning's analog synth jam. No big ideas just some blips-n-beats while I drank my coffee. Enjoy!

Acidic Coffee

Just messing things up a bit while I drink my morning coffee. 

This is a "live" jam recorded in one take using a Volca Bass passed through an EH Bass Micro Synthesizer and a $10 analogue delay pedal as the lead. Baseline courtesy of the Juno-6 sync'd to a TR-707. I threw in a couple random samples to spice things up a bit. MIDI be damned! 

Listen LOUD to amuse your neighbours...

Fun Facts:
* Another Star in the Sky is dedicated to George’s father, who passed away around the time of its creation.
* He never heard it.
* In the evening of the day when Mr Davies senior died, the sky was cloudy and only one star could be seen.
* Another Star in the Sky was almost named Another Scar in the Sty due to an outburst of mispronunciation.
* This would have been appropriate in some ways, because George (bass) and Dave (drums) were playing in a kick-ass folk band called Pyg at the same time.
* Pyg’s live performances could be a bit hit-or-miss, due to some of the dynamics within the band.
= Some of Pyg’s songs can be heard in the Archives section of the Wud Records website.
* Another Star in the Sky is based around the acoustic guitar part.
* It is in 6/8 time at a sedate 75 BPM.
* The key is G# minor, and it ends on a B major.
* Lucy’s cello copies the acoustic’s melody.
* George’s son Dan helped with the recording of the Stratocaster solos.
* Dan took up playing guitar that day and has now become a fabulous and accomplised player.
* No real horn players could be found at the time, so those parts were played using MIDI.
* The horn parts are actually quite amusing and rather scrappy.
* One of the guitar parts was made by setting the old Marshall to the most horrible sound possible, with maximum overdrive, presence and treble, and no mid or bass.
* The idea for this came from a track by Tindersticks, called Vertrauen II, from their second album.
* Dave was wincing as if to say “This just isn’t gonna work!”
* The part was dropped back in the mix and treated to a little reverb and it was “just right”.
* The idea for the simple yet distinct piano came from a piece George used to play on piano as a boy of about nine.
* It was from Forest Fantasies by Walter Carroll.

Inspired by the results of using vocal clips on Air, Icons continued in the same vein. A house/trance mashup with gratuitos use of sine falls and a synthesised ‘bye’, it concludes with a melancholic, repetitive synth that reminds us of Soft Cell and laments the recent [at the time] loss of two icons; Bowie and Prince.

The 1-bar components were composed while sitting on ferry boats. The final track was assembled while sitting on the pot.

Got a NEW toy!!. Using an Arturia Beatstep Pro to drive a vintage Roland aJUNO-1 and an old Roland JV-35. I'm working out some riffs and instrument combinations for an upcoming live show. This is really just a sketch and has not be mixed, mastered, or even EQ'd. Nonetheless, I hope you hear something you like.
