The sound samples and noises were recorded on the E Train in NYC, the baseline was improvised in the air on Flight DL 5766, and melodies and other bits were put together at Gate C-27 in Boston-Logan Airport. It's crappy but still worth a listen.

Just Messing About

This song is part of the Ferry Sessions; short tracks composed in the front seat of my car, or the passenger lounge on the Skeena Queen during my weekly ferry ride into town.  The trip is 35 minutes each way, so, the bulk of the tracks' main themes, phrases, loops, and arrangements are laid down in about an hour, with a wee bit of tinkering when I get back home. 

Contrary to my regular M.O. there are no vintage synths here, just an old MacBook with Garageband, a Microkorg, and a no-name MIDI controller.

Just messing about while I had my coffee. This is a live analogue jam. No computer, no MIDI, just pure trigger-sync'd goodness. 

For anyone interested:
Roland TR-707 triggering JUNO=6 arpeggiator, Korg Volca Bass sequence, & Pearl DRX-1 drums. I noodled over top (badly) on a Technics SX-K200. Bit-crunch distortion on the Juno courtesy of a BOSS VF-1.

This is obviously NOT a fully realized musical idea, just a bit of fun making noise. ENJOY!

Procrastination is a wonderful thing! I'm supposed to be working on an illustration project but decided to take 10 minutes and have a little live jam session with my Juno-6, 106, TR-707, and a Volca Bass. Now, back to the drawing board...

This is a "live" jam recorded in one take using a Volca Bass passed through an EH Bass Micro Synthesizer and a $10 analogue delay pedal as the lead. Baseline courtesy of the Juno-6 sync'd to a TR-707. I threw in a couple random samples to spice things up a bit. MIDI be damned! 

Listen LOUD to amuse your neighbours...
