Final 2021 - Mixuri

⫷ 𝔻𝕒𝕣𝕜 𝔻𝕠𝕝𝕡𝕙𝕚𝕟 ⫸ Are you aware that Orcas belong to the Dolphin Family? I don’t find it that obvious at first sight because of firstly, their size that is closer to a whale than a « regular » dolphin and secondly because of the name « Killer Whales » that is given to them. Not because they are whales but because they do eat whales sometimes, especially wild transient orcas. Orcas are at the top chain predators. Even great white sharks « fear » them.  Yet, they never attacked any human beings. They like to come close, watch us, play, and interact even sometimes but they have no interest in eating us. Why? What do they have to teach us? 

I sometimes wonder where this chemical attraction I have for Orcas comes from.
And it is now at its highest pick! I understood they are pushing me to dig deep into myself. To go see the darkest parts. And I understand those are the parts that give me my highest potential!

With my friend Julie, we did not swim with Orcas (yet) but we did swim with wild dolphins in the Red Sea of Egypt. This trip and this encounter were some of the deepest we got to experience, on various levels. We dived deep into the clear waters of the Red Sea and facing those wild dolphins was like facing ourselves in a mirror.

And what came out could only be beautiful, liberating, and joyful at the end!

At the occasion of their wedding festival, « La Farfaderie » Julie and her husband Omar, booked me to play… twice in two days! I felt super privileged!

For the first set, nighttime, I had around 2 hours to embark my audience into a special journey. I wanted it dark and crispy, deep and jumpy. So I decided to step out a little bit of my comfort zone that is downtempo and explore other genres like tech-house or melodic techno and even Italo Disco. Also because the Dj playing after me was going to play Italo Disco so I had to adapt to create a smooth transition between us too.

I was a bit tensed when I started playing but a few people came to me to tell me how great it. I was filled with so much support, before, during, and after the gig. It was incredible and those who were there have no idea how much courage it gave me and how it helped me gain in confidence! 🙏

༄ Back to my Roots

I’m listening to electronic music since I’m 15. At the time, I was living in Marrakech with my family and it’s where I heard of psytrance music for the first time.

In 2004, I arrived in the urban jungle of Paris. I discovered the Parisian clubbing scene and was spending my weekends at the « Redlight » and the mythic « Rex Club » most times, the « Mix », « Tryptique » or « l’Elysée Montmartre », sometime and after partying at the famous « Follow Me » or  « KitKat ». A great era in which I was discovering the music and night scene, exploring all the good parts of it but also falling down the rabbit hole sometimes. Part of the process… ;-)

4 years later, I decide to go to my first festival. I don’t choose the smallest one, to begin with. Taking my backpack, not even a tent, alone, with a few people I never met, I drive to Portugal and end up at Boom Festival. I let you imagine what the Boom can do to a person that has never been to a festival before! A huge psychedelic journey that blew my mind, opened part of my consciousness, and changed my life forever…

This is a turning point for me and I let down the clubs to rather more decorated parties. People dress up more, it’s also more fun and more spiritual as well. 
Psytrance becomes my world. Psytrance is a generic name like you would say Techno. There are many genres inside and my favorite were: Dark Forest & Dark Psy (140 > 180bpm), High Tech  (180 > 200bpm) but also Dark Prog and Psygressive which are the downtempo versions of psytrance. I kinda know all the genres very well, just ask me :D

The deep, psychedelic, organic strong vibrations of the bass trigger me. It’s visceral. I could dance for hours and hours. I went to many festivals for 5 years until another personal turning point occurred and guided me towards another musical path. I could tell you the story in another post if you want to hear it.

Recently, I listened to « Forest » again and I was happily surprised to see how it triggered me again, how my body reacted. I loved the sensations felt.
I decided that I should do a forest set one day.

༄ Creative & Emotional Process

Two weeks ago, my close friends and I organized a small event called Jambon Burn. I wanted to play one Downtempo set and one Psytech set.
Instead, I designed one and single journey « Rainbow Psyracy ».

Psytech is a form of Psychedelic Techno that is taking the world by storm! It's a hybrid genre that sits between Forest and Techno.
In this pharmacopeia of sounds, I explored the depths of these realms and created this set that starts with dark dirty downtempo sounds. Followed by those psychedelic, crispy, organic sounds. Stepping out of the depth to come back to the surface with jumpy sounds.

The reaction on the dance floor was crazy! Really, guys, a huge thank you for making this moment so unique and magical. I felt like a fish in the water, in my trueness with sensations I had never felt before. High, Raw & Alive.  Happy as f*** ! 

Bold piracy surprises us all.

༄ Rainbow

Even though this musical journey is rather dark, it brought a lot of Joy, to me and to the dancers.
We turned Sensual Darkness into Colorful Rainbow. Our root chakras liberating themselves from any blockages, freeing the path for the energy to circulate into our entire bodies and minds.
Turns out that the theme of the scenography we designed with my dear friend Sonia Apsara & Adrien Utchanah was « Rainbow ».
Were we inspired? ;-) I like to think we were…

Wooooow, people 🤯❤️😍 - what an outstanding experience playing at fusion festival for the first time! We proudly present the very first recording of a bassara live set! It's as raw and pure as our gig was - with a glitch here and there, but straight from the heart :)We had a lot of fun playing - and to see the dubstation packed with all of your smiling faces made us sooo happy.
Thanks to all the people dancing, shouting and feeling the groove with us at the dubstation! And thank you, Kulturkosmos, for making this great festival happen and inviting us for performing our second-ever live set.

Måna Hõala Anå means “Life Force Awakening” in Hawaïen, a language I affection a lot and that resonates in my whole body. May you find this force within you and make it your best friend.

Hedoné’s workshops program inspired me a lot to design my set. I wanted it dirty, sensual, and dreamy. Hope you enjoy it and that this journey awakens your playful self! 

My endless gratitude to Hedoné’s community for inviting me to play in what turned out to be a most powerful transformative experience for me. Thank you to all the ones who stayed up all night and did not go to bed to attend my gig on Sunday 10 am, sharing the dancefloor with early risers. The energy was beautiful!

Being part of the club scene since her very early days (literally), she has worked her way into the heart of the downtempo scene with her unique drive and relentless energy. Her stories are full of unconventional beats, as well as her unique signature darko-grooves.

Frida Darko has won the hearts of her fan-base due to her authentic personality and her honesty at the time of playing and producing music. We couldn't be happier about releasing one of her fantastic stories in our label.

what a wild ride! after traveling the whole weekend to catch a show in poland, i was greeted by the beautiful seebühne floor that i had spent so many hours dancing on in the past. i felt incredibly honored to play here on sunday morning and needless to say, i was hyper nervous. partially because i've almost never done live vocals in front of an audience. you were so kind to me and i was really touched by all the smiling faces, familiar as well as new. ☺

i know the style of this set might not be for everyone that had grown on my slower stuff – that's totally okay. my old things are not going anywhere and i still have a soft spot for slower music, so don't worry. i feel a lot of positivity concerning my stylistic development lately and i'm super grateful for everyone who's been sticking along for the ride.

Live @ Fusion 2022

Hej people,
this gig at Velvet Soup was wonderful, because of the wonderful crowd that came out this morning, but it also may have been one of the most chaotic gigs ever :D It started with my live computer failing on me, so I had to quickly copy the tracks of my set onto my USB so I could play the Set I prepared on CDJs. "Luckily" the stage had half an hour delay, because the power went out earlier due to the insanely heavy rain, so I had time to do so. With the Allen & Heath Mixer there, that doesn't have Reverb and doesnt send the Microphone Input to the DJ Monitors, it wasn't possible to add any live vocals. I wouldn't have much time to sing anyway, because I had to help set up the record players for the lovely Sutsches while playing. Didn't really matter though because the recording failed as well anyway. I rerecorded my set though (without the one time the CDJ got briefly unpowered), so I could still share all this new tunes with you guys <3 It includes some new collabs with @sydkasd , @ueberhaupt_ausserdem and @monolink and remixes for @temple-tears, @hannesbieger @guylalibertedj @soulofzoo and @kon-faber & Javid

Hey ravers, here it is: our Fusion live set! 😋

What a crazy gig it was. Days before the event, we saw a massive storm forecasted for our set time. Therefore, we felt blessed to start our gig in a grey but dry morning ambiance. During the first half of our set the weather intensified, becoming windier, and finally bursting into a heavy downpour. A large part of the audience sought shelter on stage, creating a cozy and unforgettable atmosphere.

Unfortunately, due to repeated power outages, the original recording is unusable. So, we decided to rerecord the set after Fusion. We hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

ektoplast *𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 - Fusion 2024 - Dubstation

Now we're reunited, & I’m back here and now!

The last four weeks have been like a rollercoaster ride….what im saying .,.. the last three years at least!!!. 

First, Nixe called to play the closing, to spent so much time before the show, putting together a completely new live set , brings me back to my old rhythm what I lost 3 years ago after corona. 13 songs and a bunch of new material later, I was finally ready to finish the Liveset a few days ago. 

To keep it short, first problem what I had I needed a new laptop after all….., as the old one is finally entering its well-deserved retirement after 13 years and hundreds of shows!

All at last minute…. its so typical for myself ^^

While traveling to the festival, I had to set up my computer again and finally finished five hours before the show. 

When I stepped into the stage and saw those thousands of faces and felt the energy, my excitement and adrenaline were almost unstoppable. I had what were probably (sorry, Seebühne, for running out of time) the two most intense hours of my musical career. All the joy in your faces, wow!


To give you back some of the good feelings for all those who continued to believe in me over the past two years, or those I upset, it was important to me to explain to you here now. I wasn't doing well at all. I was severely depressed, addicted to drugs, myself was in deep grief without consciousness, I lost the most important person in my life, I miss you every day!!

In this time I traveled to the darkest places of my soul and lived there for a long time, my valley was gray and cold, I have seen and felt things that no one wants to see and feel, the drug is so insidious and temptingly dangerous in combination with a broken soul ! be careful with the K, and all of these points lead to me being on the verge of giving up, with myself and of course musically!

But my little monkey & my big love saved my life and my music. They gave me a new perspective on my life!!
Knowing how to make you happy while Mogli peacefully drifts off to sleep in his dream at the camping space, and we experience two unforgettable hours,
and him being indirectly there and responsible for it, makes me so incredibly happy and proud. 

Thank you, and I also thank my wonderful wife Elisa, without whom none of this would have been possible. I love you.

And last but not least, I have to thank probably the most important people in my environment, my closest friends, and especially my musical soul mate, Ninze, thank you for letting me go first with this booking, I really appreciate that! When our paths crossed, no one could have guessed what would happen next, it wasn't us who found each other, but the music who found us, I'm looking forward to our musical future with you <3 love you

Imagine we could combine all the emotions we had in those two hours
and do even more good with it!

Look out for each other and love each other.

Only in this way can we be stronger than what weakens us!

Für die Ewigwachgebliebenen zum Feierabendbier, für die Frühaufsteher als Seelenfutter zum Wochenbeginn: Montagssorbet mit Laut & Luise. Alles erlaubt, was gut tut und Gedanken kreisen lässt, nur der Name ist Programm: cremig, fluffig und ganz schön weich.

Die Türen öffnen sich, leicht säurig. Herein, heraus, in die Cenote. Leicht benetzt ein jeder und ein überhaupt, ganz sanft so über allem. Mitten im Urwald, ganz weit, ganz wach, ganz nahbar und ganz fern, haben @WIDE-AWAKE-8 gespielt und mitgebracht was wir hier hören. Ganz live halt und ganz schön, auch ohne Blätterdach.
