changed the pitch by about 5 semi-tones. i think Moz's voice this high makes him sound like a fucked up Cyndi Lauper and it's fantastic, in my opinion.

Hello, and welcome to my Soundcloud page. Here, you will find other people's music with the pitch shifted up or down to make the singer sound like the "other sex." None of this music is mine, and I know that pitchshifting is not exactly some kind of inaccessible ability (I use Audacity by SoundForge, let's be real). There are two reasons I do this. One is because sometimes the voice ends up sounding really nice. The second and more important one is as a sort of gender experiment. What makes someone sound male or female? What happens when a song sounds like it's sung by the "opposite gender" and all the pronouns are left intact? How does the story change? How does the tone of the song change?

I typically post these with few comments so one can judge for themselves. I mostly only post experiments that turn out well, i.e. nothing chipmunky or weirdly demonic sounding. I hope you enjoy listening to these and that they provoke some thinking about gender and sexuality for you, too. Thanks!
