MANO sconosciuta

            misurata provvidenza

            per una vita ai margini


SCARPE senza volto

            a cui chiedi un rosso

           all'ombra del campanile

sono sorsi di ebrezza fetida

che danno tregua al presente

e LAPIDANO il futuro



In un doppio cartone

                sagomi un passato

                che tu solo conosci
               
E’ privilegio amaro

                indifferente ai credenti

                indifferente alla notte

Sfugge anche al lampione

                il tuo leggere i fogli

                su cui adagi i pensieri
              

unico cedimento

al fare di un tempo

complice di quel dolore

               che solo porta il sonno


per tornare identiita' negata

               invenzione di ipocrisie ormai alte

              nell'AMEN di un bicchiere

FACELESS SHOES

            You ask for a red wine glass

           in the shadow of the bell tower

They are sips of fetid drunkenness

That give respite to the present

and STONE the future



In a double carton

                sagomas a past

                that you alone know
               
It’s a bitter privilege

                indifferent to believers

                indifferent to the night

Even the lamppost can’t see

                your reading the old journals

                on which you rest your thoughts
            
only memory

of the past

friend of the pain

               that makes you sleep


To return to the unknown man

               invention of hypocrisies now highs

              in the AMEN of a glass

The Amen of a Glass / L'Amen di un bicchiere

Lorena Ulpiani was born in Italy on the 9th August 1959. In the 1980s she moved to Padua, where she still lives today. She graduated from the University of Verona in Literature with a major in Art. For over 20 years she has worked as a professional journalist but has never abandoned her colour palette. A lover of steam locomotives, she has published a number of historical texts and cultivates a passion for itineraries outside of the usual tourist circuits.
An interest in human rights in the 90s leads Lorena to work for the Cree, not your stereotypical bead threaders but rather the financially savvy natives of Northern Quebec. Immersed in the Quebec villages and lands, she develops a fascination for the language of geometry and a deeper understanding of aspects related to colour. The latter is complemented by her studies of sacred art, from Europe to China, and as far as Tibet, in a quest for that light which is immersed in a dimension beyond the visible and synonymous with peace and meditation. Works by Lorena Ulpiani can be found in private and public collections in Italy and abroad.
