Imprint is Rachael's second single of 2022, a mystical, grief-fuelled exploration of her relationship with the coast-dwelling Cormorants of her New Brighton home. Referencing the physical landscapes of the Mersey Estuary, the Irish Sea, and the Liverpool city skyline with its ever watchful Liver Birds, Imprint evokes a Beatles-esque, Kate Bush inspired, time-tripping spin around the strangeness of grief and the beckoning solace of the natural world.

Shattered Dreams

This song takes you on a darker, but colorful journey through re-discovering feeling everything. It was written during a period of time where I was struggling with the most difficult bout of depression I have ever experienced and the numbness that ensues after. “Rain” is about feeling everything again and not being afraid to go into the darker places we tend to keep buried. Its about feeling the emotions we may distract ourselves from and even avoid in order to find healing.

When I wrote “Rain” in 2020, it was quite literally raining outside as I was exiting my car to return inside my apartment. It takes me back to the re-discovery of bodily sensations that my depressive episode had hijacked. As I felt each gentle rain drop on my skin, it felt like I was in my body again and I just stood standing in the rain soaking in every sensation I was feeling. Taking in the fresh smell of the rain, the gentle breeze, and hearing the soft pitter-patter of each droplet landing on the sidewalk. Each moment of stillness had the most profound effect on me. Its with this in mind that I share this creation with you.

Rain

Aftermath is my most vulnerable release yet. It is a journey through dark, ambient, yet cinematic, and electronic elements that shed light on how personal rumination takes us out of the present reality. Aftermath tells an incredibly visceral story of how ruminating on past experiences can destroy our inner equanimity.

Aftermath was written in 2016 while I was dealing with immense feelings of guilt and shame. I kept allowing my mind to delve into the past and dwell on the events that brought these feelings. This song is a reminder to both my self and others, to not let the past rob you of the beauty, peace, and joy that is in the present moment. With this message in mind, my producer Nicci Gomez and I crafted a track that feels mysterious, haunting, and reminiscent of how these thoughts slowly make their way into our conscious mind until they take over the entirety of our mental environment. Elements in this track were also inspired by the Diablo 2 soundtrack

Aftermath

I am ME, and I am You-min. Anything else within these two lines is simply... All Good. 

Making up boxes, no matter how one frames it, is just prop-a-gating the same ole' divisive cracks under a fresh coat of bad faith-paint. So stop marking up tribal bounds, and instead, let's all BOND within the only Spectrum that should really matter: this gorgeous You-n-I-verse that we all share.

Paradox

This song was written and recorded in 2022. Track was produced by Timothonius, lyrics written and recorded by me.

It is a song about being willing to claim everything (todo) that life brings, including the heartbreak that comes inevitably as we expand and grow, forever reaching for more.

Songs are the final result of my alchemical processes. At this moment, I was coming to the realization that the relationship I was in probably needed to end in order for me to expand further. And that is what happened. Listening back to this song brings me back to that summer of 2022, when things seemed like they were getting back on track, but they weren't.

Nothing was to be the same ever again.

Chapter Six

***Truth***
 ~ The Dark War ~  

In the pitch black void of His soul, the brief moment of peace gave way.

  But the complete darkness remained.

  Geo resurfaced.  

Moe resurfaced.  

Geo Zeke wanted to live.

  Moe Frank did too.

  The two took up arms against each other.  Like a toxic relationship between two Lovers fighting for the only crumb of feeling left between them. 
Amidst the shrapnel, they maintained a caustic Love for each other, 
Both too broken to express their Love without it becoming something twisted and unrecognizable.  

Geo blamed Moe for leading them into such a dark mess. Geo only wanted to be happy, to be recognized and valued - and look where Moe had led Him.  

Moe blamed Geo for being complacent, forcing Moe to do all the work. He only tried to give Geo the things that He desired but was too afraid to take for Himself - without Moe’s help, Geo would still be some naive, small-town nobody. 
Besides, Moe continued, Geo was the one with the problem. Moe Loved the life that He created.

  Geo screamed that Moe's not even real, that He’s a mirage, that He was invented, and that He could be un-invented.

Moe yelled back asking why Geo would invent someone else to live His life for Him? How confused, afraid, and cowardly could He be to let all this happen without ever taking action against any of it if He knew it was wrong? If it wasn’t what He wanted too? 
Moe laughed, saying that it was not Moe who Geo hated… Geo hated Himself  …

  …  

He was right…

  There came a realization.  

That there was no sense in fighting with Himself anymore. 
That there was no sense in blaming Himself or anyone else.
 Those wouldn’t solve anything. 
Those wouldn’t make it light again.  

Geo surrendered.  And decided in that moment, that He did not want to live without His heart.  That He did not want to lose His colours, and hide Himself anymore.  No matter how afraid He was of being no one, of being useless, of being a failure, of being broken, of being wrong, or weak, or vulnerable.  
He resolved to do whatever it took to feel Love again. To have His colours back. And that if they did return to Him, He vowed to never forsake them again, not for any fools treasure.  

TL;DR

  Geo had no more energy to fight anymore.  He had surrendered to the mess that He made for Himself.  

In a darkness that no soul could find it’s way out of - His sincerity echoed out, and reverberated into the black infinity…  

Suddenly, Geo felt something.  

Something deep down under the dirt and mud, under the shame and guilt that was piled atop His heart.

  A shimmer emerged from the sheer darkness.

He felt… Love.  

His heart was exhumed from it’s grave.

  And there, in the middle of the darkest night of His soul,  
He found…
