Every time Guy J releases his solo material on Lost & Found, the world of music lovers is ready for a treat. He's not only one of the leaders of the global scene but a musical innovator pushing the limits of studio techniques and borders of abstract emotional content. His latest conceptual masterpiece consists of two tracks ranging in length from over 7 to almost 11 minutes and a total run time of over 18 minutes. The opening track, Last Standing, blends the progressive motifs with an out-of-this-world anthemic breakdown. The piece is simultaneously melodic and nostalgic but manages to deliver a new, previously unheard edge to the technical execution of the production. The closing track, Fire, uses temperamental arpeggio resonances, constructing a mystical soundscape for a joyride into a higher state of perception. Guy’s sonic skills work as a hypnotic tool. Emerging mysteriously over the horizon, a new satellite surfaces with Freedo Mosho's sultry Edit of Paul (AR) & Anunnakis' collaborative single, Ancient Moon. Originally released on Selador as a part of The Selador Showcase - The Seventeenth Instalment, the hypnotic dancefloor roller sheds over to a dusky shade under the sonic guidance of the Argentine maestro.

Riding slick, Freedo Mosho's take on Ancient Moon builds patiently in the shadows as it rolls over the back of a delectable percussive line and an irresistible stabbed bassline. Moving with aplomb, FM takes us deep inside a heady and hazy picture where the midnight fog rises, providing a dense and lush backdrop before revealing a time-stopping breakdown where the ancient secrets blossom in a tantalizing manner as they come together for a rousing second act, drifting into the new night with each passing beat.

A most luxurious take on Paul (AR) & Anunnakis - Ancient Moon, Freedo Mosho's reinterpretation deconstructs the spellbinding original, transforming it into a smoldering, slow- burner under the binding rays of twilight as he delivers another essential outing.

Golan Zocher & Choopie - SAO (Hernan Cattaneo & Simply City Extended Remix) [Univack]

A welcome returning figure to the Meanwhile Roster, Mike Rish is no stranger to success. With numerous cross-genre hits under multiple aliases, his own name sees him reach rarefied heights in the Progressive House genre with work signed to Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Guy J’s Lost & Found and Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music.

December 2021 saw a Meanwhile debut with the sublime 3-track “Beyond” EP, while April 2023 witnessed a standout reworking of Jamie Stevens’ “Storm Front”. Returning for a second outing, his latest triple tracker opens with the funky rhythmic backdrop of “GT”. Using an intricate percussive arrangement to provide a club-friendly foundation, a swathe of stereo-panned textures and synth effects meander across the opening movements, accompanied by delay-infused vocal cuts. A smooth arpeggio adds a touch of traditional progressive drive at the breakdown and beyond, while a further synth motif blossoms in the second half to sit alongside the rasping and explosive bassline.

Continuing the effects-laden narrative, “Shoreditch Funk” quickly makes its mark with a woodblock infused percussive top-line. Stereo-panned pads and saw-tooth synths pulsate in dizzying fashion while a grooved bassline adds dancefloor ‘funk’. A cascading arp makes its presence felt, pitching in freeform oscillator glory at the break, before continuing unabated in detuned fashion throughout the second half. The result is a vibrant sonic collage that bristles with verve and innovation.

The final track witnesses another meticulously conceived rhythmic arrangement throughout “Reka”, with a subtle bass sequence providing dancefloor sensibilities alongside a heavy 4/4 beat. An acetylene-torch lead mesmerises with its glissando phrasing while a glassy motif combines with gently pulsing pads that swim enticingly in smooth juxtaposition. Continuing themes redolent in previous outings, a beautifully imagined synth phrase syncopates in exquisitely cadenced rhythm alongside percussive counterparts. “Reka” then evolves into a delicately conceived melodic jewel in the latter stages.

“GT / Shoreditch Funk / Reka” continues to find Mike Rish very much at the leading edge of modern and pioneering Progressive House.

This mashup fuses two of my favorite musical worlds: the melodic progressive house of Guy J and the explosive dubstep of Skrillex. I took the deep and emotive atmosphere of Guy J's "Illusion" as a base and integrated the vocals from Skrillex's "Stranger" as a decorative element.

This mashup is an exploration of the sonic possibilities that arise when combining two seemingly disparate styles. The idea is to generate a listening experience that transports the listener through different emotional states, from introspection and melancholy to euphoria and liberation.

Swedish producer David Pietras and brother-trio from Australia Sentinel for their return to Protocol Recordings team up on a brand new driving progressive track "Light," featuring Australian singer/songwriter Moses York.
