SoHaSo (Something Happening Somewhere), the label run by ormer Trouw resident Nuno dos Santos, is celebrating the summer with not one, but two compilations. Selecting unique pieces by artists known and unknown, the SOMEWHERE series feels like a sound-based confessional. Telling unheard stories, exposing unseen surfaces and unheard sounds.

SOMEWHERE I and II are set to be released digitally, a vinyl sampler with a selection of the tracks featured in the full compilations and as well as a very limited run of CD’s. Something is happening somewhere, once again.

The first release contains some true sonic pieces of art, by contributors that have erected the label's reputation in the first place: Love Over Entropy, Presk, Sigward and of course Nuno Dos Santos himself.

The Premiere featured today comes from Polynation, who brings us a nearly 9-minute thriller in the form of 'Anther'.

Miura Keys teams up with fellow berlin­based singer Sofi de la Torre for the single “Ominous”.
Sofi has been steadily making noise with her own music and was featured in magazines such as The Guardian, Billboard, Nylon, Time, Q Mag etc
Sofi’s sultry vocals fit perfectly over the deep and atmospheric house beats of Miura Keys. The synths, guitars and especially the main catchy “bell melody” create a sensual counterpart to Sofi’s voice, while she sings about a very emotional and “ominous” experience she has with someone....
On the remix side we have a UK House remix by Nocturn Inc. with piano­ladden grooves and deep wobbly basses for a more uplifting version and also a tech­house treat by Berlin’s own Chi Thanh (Beatport Deep House 2014 Top10 position), who goes for a more instrumental, dark and techy version which resonates with the city’s vibe...

Iketa came to my attention last year, and the more I delved into his work, the more amazing music I discovered. So when the chance came along to remix something, I chose his track Burn, which I love, and tried to put my own interpretation on it. The original was already so close to perfection melodically, that I found I couldn't do a lot to improve it. So instead I focused on trying to enhance what was already there, using contrasting sections of soundscapes and detailed sparse beats, and adding builds of saturation to exaggerate each melodic element. I found it was a really nice remix to work on, I hope you like it!

Iketa - Burn - Max Cooper Remix

I had a lot of fun working on this remix, mainly because Marc and Ken provided some great parts to work with. I messed around with chopping up the main riff so that it plays different versions out of each channel to give an interesting left/right effect, every so often hitting the same pattern on both channels and suddenly jumping to the middle as a result. Then it disintegrates and recombines in new form during the break before finally reaching the original riff on the main drop....I've been playing it out a lot, seems to do the job nicely in the clubs....all about the bassline as often is the way with my stuff!
